    Yeah.

He's far more accomplished at the weight. I think Jones always beats him h2h, but that's an assumption, so it counts for less. Plus I'd take Jones over all but maybe 1 or 2 other Middleweights I've seen, so him rating higher in that area isn't a bad thing.

To be honest, Jones still presents real stylistic difficulties to Hopkins, even to this day. He just lacks the mentality more than likely.

    1. Monzon.
    2. Hagler
    3. SRR
    4. Hopkins
    3. 3G

Roy isn't on list because he fought no greats, only a few defenses. Like Ray to Hearns, Duran, MW was more like a pit stop. As they fought in other weight classes far longer.
The other names Kethcel, Burley & others mentioned are all worthy of being top 10. I just didn't watch enough of them to truly validate being on my list. Especially Greb, I just acknowledge per writers historians that he is an ATG. &3G held all MW belts. Hard to be called a ducker if one holds one weight class, takes all the straps and defends successfully close to 1/2 a decade.

A great fighter does know his limitations, moving up in weight does not necessarily make you a great fighter, if you are comfortable with that weight class, by all means, remain there. If it is not broken, don't try to fix it. If out of greed, it could turn into a nightmare. A fighter can be great at his class, still make history. I have seen too many fighters become flabby, out of shape, just to please others, they have failed miserably It is not a requirement. An example, Esteban De Jesus was a terrific lightweight, but moving up to 140, he failed rather ugly against then champion Antonio Cervantes. Some move up for trouble making weight, but it's not for everybody.

Also, this thread is 10 years old. McGrain's list that I mentioned previously was done in 2015. And Steele wasn't in the top 10, rather top 20.
