Do you think Naoya Inoue can surpass the great Ricardo Lopez in legacy and resume? What does he need to do for that to happen? Beat Casimero? Move up to 122 and win a title there?
Lopez has no win better than even an old Donaire. If Inoue sticks around for a few more years, and beats somebody like Casimero and maybe Estrada, he'll have clearly surpassed Lopez.
As much as I like Ricardo Lopez, it doesn't take much to surpass his legacy/resume. Inoue is a bantamweight and Lopez is a minimum/light flyweight though.
Already a similar thread you made back in 2020 https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/could-inoue-be-better-than-ricardo-lopez.655802/ To answer the question yes he does have time to surpass him. As someone said before it really doesn’t take much to surpass Lopez, just beat more quality opponents. Inoue has the capabilities to stay dominant, just needs to face guys with a pulse.
For me he already surpassed him. Finito just doesn't have the resume, only the impressive record. Inoue has been the consensus #1 in 3 divisions already, and is still going strong.
Inoue will win titles in at least two more divisions maybe even three i think by the time hes done there will be a huge gap between him and Lopez.
Will the UK give him a visa to fight Paul Butler next month given his legal issues? I'd say there has to be some doubt that fight even happens now.
I would say he has already. But the fact that Looez went undefeated in like almost 100 fights amateur and pro is somewhat unheard of even if you fight 100 bums.
I have a problem with finito. I'm A HUGE FAN. And probably it is one of those cases where nostalgia makes fighters better for me. I have a really rough time saying that anyone has surpassed finito. No matter if true or false. So I will say no.
