Take whatever you believe to be the best version of heavyweight Toney. Does that version of Toney go through this reign undefeated in a vacuum? If not then what's his record by the end of it? It seems like these type of threads are becoming popular so I decided to put the funniest heavyweight against the funniest title reign.

    Bermane Stiverne
    Eric Molina
    Johann Duhaupas
    Arthur Szpilka
    Chris Arreola
    Gerald Washington
    Bermane Stiverne... again
    Luis Ortiz
    Tyson Fury (draw)
    Dominic Breazeale
    Luis Ortiz... again

No, Ortiz would have beaten him and Fury would have had too much height and reach.

Funny idea. But, after I stopped laughing and really thought about it, I realized that the best version of Toney could absolutely do it if he stayed consistent. That is a painfully weak series of challengers. Ortiz would probably be the most competitive, but, I bet James would make him look foolish at times. He certainly wouldn't be scared of Ortiz.

I am not counting Fury since Wilder never beat him. And, I seriously doubt Toney would get rag-dolled like Wilder did in Fury II.

He didn't have the consistency in real life.

His record at heavyweight is kind of bizarre: a win erased by PED testing, TKO from an accidental headbutt, a loss, a loss that is argued to be a robbery, a draw, and a couple stoppage wins against not very good opposition.

Wilder, whatever else you say about him, was metronome consistent for most of it. You met him; he stopped you.

Toney was a very good heavyweight, but I dunno whether he equals Wilder's title reign.

Agreed, Toney was old, shot and overweight at HW he had a tiny “prime” there and it was evident by the 2nd Peters fight. The best version of Toney you could put at HW is just the CW version… at HW he was an expert survivor which is why he’d beat Foreman but lose to say Ortiz, Ruiz Jnr or say Pinklon… Chris Byrd actually ducked “Big” James Toney believe it or not.

If it was a consistent magic Toney and he wasn’t obese yet let’s say 200lbs-210lbs he’d clown those guys expect Fury and the Ortiz fight is 60-40 for Ortiz though I’m not expert on the guys listed, just if they were big dummies that Wilder could knock over there’s a high chance JT could box them silly if they were aggressive enough, Toney had a way of making fighters come to him like Ali.

Toney couldn`t make Jones or Griffin come to him and Ali simply always circled to his right and his opponents followed him.

Toney was dead at the scales and it doesn’t always work. Ali circled to his left not his right… I don’t think he ever circled to his right unless it was an aberration.

This is true, Toney was very inconsistent at heavyweight however just like the Liston pulling off Louis' title reign thread, for this thread Toney is magically at his heavyweight best for each fight. Can he pull it off?

He'd loses to Stiverne from the first 1st via controversial SD or maybe get draw. I think Arreola would outwork & dog him. Toney makes him clumsy throughout (similar to Sam Peter I), but he's much more active & has better stamina. He'd win solely on workrate, while Toney is more accurate, but lapses focus & coasts too much. Ortiz decisions him, but doesn't look like a destroyer. He loses to Fury decisively. He beats the rest easily.
