To outbox him is the only chance he has. He certaintly can't out slug him.

I disagree. I think Taylor has too many fundamental flaws in his technique to outbox Pavlick. Kelly throws too many jabs and straight rights and Taylor keeps his left hand too low. I think he has a better chance of slugging it out. Pavlick's chin isn't granite and JT can hurt him, and regardless of what people on here believe, its his KP's very high workrate and good accuracy that finishes people off as opposed to his power, which though good, is way over rated.

I like Taylor, but i think Pavlik is the better boxer here. Some people seem to think the 'boxer' is always the one who's quicker and who moves around more, but Pavlik has sharper punching technique, smarter footwork, a tighter guard, plus i think he's just an overall more intelligent human being than Taylor, and that shows in how they box.

Pavlik out boxed him in the last fight despite what the judges had. Its not that he landed more punches but his punches are strait and harder. Taylors punches are looping with less power so while it looks good it does not have the same effect as pavliks punches.

Nope -- not a chance. Kelly Pavlik is a much better boxer than JT. Jermain has one advantage; handspeed, and some of that will be diminished by his more muscular physic at 166. Those stiff jabs, the text-book perfect 1-2, and amazing lead rights will put Taylor on the ropes again. Once he is on the ropes Pavlik will use his superior footwork to turn the ring into a phone booth and then put his finishing skills to work and close the show.:bbb

You are correcr about everything except this:

Looping punches DO NOT look better than straight punches. Unless all you've seen are street fights.

Looping punches are almost as bad as slapping punches. Right, Joe?:hey

Taylor has the skills to outbox Pavlik - but I think he's going for the KO.

No. In my opinion, Taylor cannot live inside a ring with Pavlik for twelve rounds. It's waiting for the inevitable -- a flush right hand.

One of ' em has got to go. If Taylor is smart, he'll make it into a shootout early.

No way this is going twelve.

I still question Taylors stamina. He's been a fighter a long time and I thnk he's always been in great shape. Maybe the weight and extra endurance prep. may help, but some guys just don't have a big gas tank and Taylor may be one of those guys. Then there's the Pavlik factor which tends to wear guys down regardless of stamina. I think JT's only chance is a md-round stoppage, by being smartly agressive yet defensive. Tall order though. I'm taking Pav again.

Yes, he's got the tools, but will he? No. He souldn't have taken on Pavlik so soon... because when he'll taste Pavlik's power, every bad moment of his KO loss will come back and that'll break his focus. You don't want to do that against Pavlik.
