I don't know what the hell happened to Taylor. He used to have one of the best jabs in the business. I think he got countered over it one too many times by Hopkins in the first fight.

But, suddenly beginning with that first fight against Hopkins, he started pawing with it and moving backwards.

Unless he gets back to coming forward with a large amount of jabs like he used to do, he is toast.... AGAIN....

He still jabbed back when caught by the first right hand, then he took that monster right and his body turned as he was throwing another jab - that means he didn't lose focus immediately, he just got hurt physically - the thing was that he was driven easily into the corner after the right hand and had no way out of there and to escape the uppercuts and left hooks that really finished him... I guess that Taylor will have to absorb right hands like he did for 6 rounds and punch back with authority... It's not like he will have a suicide instinct to fall again into the trap when taking that shot, but even if he has an instant recall, that suggests me that he will try to avoid what's coming next and not the other way around... He did much better in the final stretch of the second Hopkins fight and he took a lot of right hands in the first bout.

No he can't, plain and simple. Taylor looks more fluid, which is often mistaken for better skills. Pavlik looks rugged because of his body type, but he is more effective, by far. Taylor fights well for a minute, then completely forgets what just worked well for him and fights his opponent's fight. Pavlik has mastered a style that works perfectly for his body and sticks to what works for him. The bad news for Taylor in the first fight was that Pavlik actually held his own in the boxing chess match parts of the fight, winning round one, three and six, whatever the stupid scorecards said.

Yes. This is an even more realistic outcome than him stopping Pavlik. JT is going to do better in the rematch and only because he will use his speed to confuse and keep Pavlik on the defense.

Have you ever seen Pavlik confused?? Have you ever seen anybody being able to keep him on the defense for more than half a round? He is one of the mentally strongest fighters in the world. Taylor's speed is not of much use to him, because Pavlik is more effective and accurate. Besides, Taylor has close to zero ability to stick to a gameplan.

can taylor outbox pavlik IMO yes

can taylor do it for 12 rounds ?

taylor has the tools and fundamentals to beat pavlik, i question his heart/will to win and willingness to do everything in his abilty to win.

pavlik will lay it all on the line, taylor is not.

if taylor makes this a technical fight then yes he can.

taylor does not move his head a lot and i am not sure if he has the abilty to read the pavlik straight right and duck and counter.

taylor defense is based a lot around offense.

but if taylor can make this technical then it should be obvious how he will do it.

move to his right/pop out the jab/jab jab/step off
lead right and again step off to the right.

pavlik virtually always drops his left to his waist backing up and also backsup on rails meaning/ right hooks/straight rights /overhand rights have the chance to land.

also throw a combo against pavlik and he does not do much to back out of the way and avoid them.

but what i am not sure is will taylor has the confidence to stay in the pocket and implement this type of stratergy.

i voted no but didn't read the question properly. He could, but won't. He is not focused enough, and wants to slug him.

    He said:

"Taylors punches are looping with less power so while it looks good, Pavliks are more effective."

Sounds to me like he think looping punches look better that KP's straight punches.

    WTF?:huh

It all depends on Taylors stamina and whether it can keep up with Pavliks pace, if he can deal with the pace and not get hit by to many straight rights, the the answer to your question would be yes.

Honestly NO! But considering the state of boxing judges maybe!! Consider the fact that they had Jermain up big in the last fight at the time of the stoppage, not to mention his gifts versus Hopkins. And questionable decision victories over Wright and Spinks.

No, Jermain's only chance is if he's able to put Pavlik on the backfoot. To do that he must slip the jab and counter with combos stepping in.

All the dancing in the world won't do him any good vs. Pavlik who'll just cut the ring and drive him to the ropes.

I think he can, but its not probable as Pavlik has to much power.
