"Mell is a bigger puncher than pretty much anyone Canelo has been in with" Your exact word. Pretty plan English to me.

Pretty much. Who has Canelo fought who were bigger punchers? Who has Canelo fought that was coming off a devastating KO like Jermell was? GGG aside, there's not many of Canelo's opponents who were able to stop highly respected, highly rated fighters like Harrison or Castaño.

Callum Smith has a higher KO pct than Charlo.

Well I was wanting to see these two to match up for years, so I'd be a hypocrite to get what I wanted then complain about it happening.

And just so you know, while I would have liked to seen more offense and aggression out of Jermell, I still found it to be an excellent boxing match. Both fighters showcased a high level of skill and defense. This was one of Canelo's best performances and the kind of performance he needed with a potential Benavidez matchup as his next opponent. Are you suggesting that "buying the hype" is somehow a bad thing?

As boxing fans, on a boxing forum, we're here primarily to "get hyped" about boxing events. I don't see how being hyped for a big boxing event is something bad as you're insinuating. I pretty much get hyped about any boxing event, especially big fights in Las Vegas. That's what most boxing fans do. And guess what, I'm very much looking forward to Benavidez vs Andrade. I think a lot of people are ignoring the fact that, by Canelo taking on Jermell, it opened the door for Benavidez to fight Andrade, which is a battle of unbeatens and contenders for Undisputed. As much as sad detractors like you want to complain about events like Canelo and Jermell, and seem to be rooting for the event to fail, and taking some kind of joy out of the fight not delivering to expectations, whatever those were, we also need to remember that it led to a fantastic scenario of Benavidez vs Andrade meeting up as unbeatens before fighting Canelo. This is a fight that would never have happened if Canelo would have done what many wanted him to do and fight Benavidez. Another thing, by Canelo fighting Jermell, it also opened the door for the potential for a Canelo vs Crawford matchup which still has legs. So rather than be all sour about bitter about Canelo fighting Jermell, I choose to support boxing and the events that get made, rather than be a thorn in the side of boxing like you and several other boxing detractors like to do around here.

Fair point, but is he more explosive? Is he a more skilled puncher? Has Smith KO'd the kind of fighters Charlo did? Slick boxers like Harrison, rough, tough highly skilled fighters like Castaño?

To be fair callum has knocked people out cold, Charlo did get stoppages against those guys but they were on a technicality. Tho Charlo does have impressive knockouts, but at 154 not 168.

Callum Smith is more heavy handed with more thudding shots, but that's primarily because of how big he is. Charlo has better punch technique, he can land more eye catching and looping punches from awkward angles. Charlo is able to put punches together better. So Smith hits harder, but Charlo is a more explosive flashy puncher.

It's like when Canelo gets asked about fighting Jake Paul. He's like come on guys, Jake Paul, really. What do you think would happen if Canelo fought a guy like KSI or Jake Paul? There's levels in boxing.

Just not what I'm into bro. But the difference is, I wouldn't trash that fight. I wouldn't get on here and start detracting from it, like so many did with Canelo and Jermell. That's being a party pooper. I'm not here to rain on anyone's parade knowhatimean?

Well tbh it's a youtuber vs a part time boxer so people should have the right to trash it, but honestly I'm more interested in that fight than I was for that farce that was Canelo-Charlo. JS.
