angles and footwork basically means joe upped his rate, which he could do since he had a lungpower advantage over the older man. Its the same thing he did against Kessler.

Joe worked out nothing, hes not smart, his plan B was increased volume by sheerdint of making sure he had a fitness advantage before getting into the ring with his opponent.

Joe has had a 'plan B' in fights and that was to weather the storm when he was getting outboxed. I am not denying Joe had a chin good enough to do this. But that wasn't what you were getting at, was it? not at all.

Joes greatest win was easily his victory over Kessler. I was somewhat impressed but then reality hit once he started called out shot to **** jones and struggled with a middle aged Hopkins and slapped his way to a hand raise vs manfredo. Joe did well for himself not really one of the greats sorry but surely a hall of famer

    I disagree...but maybe you don't need a plan B when you're ...

Steward (R.I.P) said Linares was the best since Robinson.

Folks get excited and say stupid ****. Even great folks.

I think he deserves a hof place for notching up a record number of defences (20 or 21 I think), even though only 4 or 5 of them are legit.

if we don't give joe the record, the alternative is to give it to sven ottke...... horrible thought. Joe might have had paid for refs and opponents paid to dive but he didn't cheat like sven.

exactly, what you WOULD need is tough fights against prime decent opponents, which Joe Calzaghe by his own admission (direct quote) didnt want.

Only someone really crap would lose if they stuck to easy-middling fights.

    haha.

Might as well set a place for Sven Ottke since you're just letting anybody in.

this is unfortunately true, but one cannot deny a record when its set, even if its achieved through cheat stoppages and that ilk, its still a record.

It is a very dirty record though.
