although hopkins is a very talented fighter I've always thought he has been alway way overrated, taylor already proved he is not that great, pavlik most likely will beat him also, and hopefully calzaghe will leave no doubt about hopkins status, sorry but beating both tito, oscar and tarver just won't cut it for me, I pick joe in a wide margin unanimous decision.

Nah Hopkins will retire before Joe gets the chance to win the full twelve.

Maybe no every round because hopkins will try some tricks and maybe win a round or 2 once he starts to fall behind. But Joe will adapt and go back to delivering an ass whooping. the next day this board will be filled with people that say that Bernard would have owned joe in his prime

Hell no Hopkins will do whatever it takes to slow Joe down ... he might cut him with a headbutt and have target practice with it.

If the fight goes 12 it is impossible for Joe to win them all against Hopkins.

In my view Hopkins has an outside chance of winning this.

Hopkins fans would then defend it and talk about how brilliant bernard is because he is so good at fouling.

No chance in hell could joe win all 12 against hopkins unless hopkins has finally been caught up by his age. The Hopkins that fought winky is too good and too smart a fighter not to win a round, joe should win but it won't be easy

    I really don't think so.

I expect Joe to win, due to his much busier workrate, but I don't expect a shut-out.

First of all don't jump to conclusions ... you don't know who i'm rooting for.

For the record ... Calzaghe has never seen a fighter with a simular style to Hopkins.

Hell I see this fight paning out like the DLH fight ... Brother Nazeem yelling "body shot" ... Hopkins lunges in with a picture pefect left hook ... and everyone routing for Calzaghe now is calling him a bum after the fight ... they're calling him overrated ... and wish he would retire.

It happend to Hatton and Hamed ... what makes Calzaghe so special?

They were undefeated like he was and in Hamed's case more accomplished. No one thought Barrera was going to beat Hamed and Hamed had been calling him and Morales out for years.

Calzaghe has been calling out RJJ and Hopkins for years, now he gets the chance and now he must taste defeat.

someone's "0" has got to go ... and by the way Hopkins has already lost 4

Joe can not win every single round. Hopkins have stepped up everytime he fought. I've never seen him dominated, and he fought great competition. You all should be aware that Joe is bringing things Hopkins has seen before. Its a fight, anything can happen. But a total shut-out in favor of Joe just seems unlikely

In terms of fouling he has.

I could sit here and try to analyze this fight but god knows they'll be 4000000000 OTHER threads on it SO....I'll just answer the original question.

    No. He cannot.

he is awesome at fouling and that was never more apparent than in the winky fight
but i dont see anyway joe wins every round
and calling bernard hopkins is overrated is crazy..he's had one of the greatest careers we've ever seen and he's still boxing at an elite level at this age. and never got his ass kicked in any fight

Hopkins is way overrated? Compared to Calzaghe...are you kidding?

You say that beating Taylor, Tito, Oscar, and Tarver DOESN'T matter...does that mean beating Kessler, Lacy, and Eubank DOES matter??

What are you smoking man? If you're judging this fight on resume alone, you'd pick Hopkins...that's obvious to any boxing fan.

This will not be a wide UD for JC. He will only win if Hopkins has aged significantly since his last fight. Otherwise, the 43 year old man takes it, plain and simple...Calzaghe is way too cocky for a guy who fights 99% of his fights against bums, while having a hometown crowd. Let him deal with someone tougher than he is, more resourceful than he is, and one of the most skilled defensive fighters of this era.

    Then we'll see who's better...

Taylor was also 10 years younger than Calzaghe ...

What makes Calzaghe so special in your eyes? ... he's accomplished the same thing Hopkins accomplished -- and he fought more fillers than Hopkins. No one has been talking about SMW like that ... that division was amoung the worst in boxing ... don't act like this guy is a god or something.

He was taste the same fait as Hatton and Hamed ...

Hopkins has great defense ... its very hard to hit him flush no matter how fast you are. He will smother Joe's punches by being in his chest and clinching when neccessary ... he'll throw alot of right hands and based on last nights fight (Lee v Vera) you don't have to be the fastest fighter to land a good punch. All it takes is one flush on the chin and you find yourself on ***** street.

Calzaghe squares up alot making him an easy target to hit ... his punches are wide and looping often leaving him open for straight shots.

Hopkins will study this guy and know everything there is to know about Calzaghe ... his strengths, his weaknesses, how he starts off a combonation, what punches have given him trouble in the past ... everything -

Keep this page on your favorites list because I got a feeling i'm going to be telling alot of you guys I told you so when its all said and done.
