not going to read this thread bar to say that this is the same kind of thread i see from calzaghe haters in reverse.

this fight will not be easy for either fighter no matter what the result.

I think Calzaghe will TKO him in the 10th or 11th round. Joe will be a different animal at 175. Too much hand and foot speed for Hopkins to deal with.

So question for those of you that think that bernard will trouble Joe. If Joe does pitch a shutout or something close will you give him full credit or will you cry about how hopkins was old?

If Joe wins, it's a good win. If he shuts him out, it will be a damn good win. I can't give him full credit due to the fact that he's facing a 43 year old man. Hell, people are now trying to downplay Nard's win over Tarver; saying Tarver was past his prime. They ignore the fact that Nard was older and was 3-1 underdog.

People don't really complain about Tarver's prime. They just say that he wasn't all that great to begin with and I tend to agree.

my biggest problem with this fight is that I know Joe is not going to get the credit he deserves for the win even though it is not his fault that the fight didn't happen sooner. Bernard prefered to sit and rule a very weak middleweight division and completly skip 168 when he did decide to move up in weight.

And Joe prefered to defend his WBO belt in a weak SMW division instead of going to LHW.

So you can criticize joe for a roy jones fight never happening but not for a hopkins fight.

I never said that Bernard was old or that Joe has not deserved full credit for his wins. Calzaghe can't shut down Hopkins with his offense and I would have to go to Joe's best wins 119-105, 119-107 against Lacy, 118-109, 118-111, 116-111 against Eubank to check about it... Upright Eubank was very stationary, almost robotic, dropping his hands to his waist and throwing massive, sloppy punches, missing wildly and paying everytime... Short and compact Lacy was marching forward in straight lines and tryin to punch around Calzaghe's guard - Calzaghe feinting him, putting together short, fast, light punches inside, stepping aside, ducking wide punches... Hopkins has nothing to do with Eubank or Lacy... Hopkins doesn't even fight like Kessler does, throwing big powerpunches from an immobile trunk. Jones only landed 15 from 99 and Hopkins 10 out of 85 in two rounds in 93, and you expect Calzaghe to win every round against this guy just because he is older than Joe? Nobody is gonna cry for any reason other than feeling that they were robbed. That's why they always cry about... People talk, talk, talk, then the fight is close and the loser always cries.

If he did win all 12 though, everyone would say Hopkins' age had caught up with him regardless. I don't think Joe could win a shut out and get the acclaim for it.

You're jumping to all sorts of conclusions. You crticised Hopkins for staying at MW, which you deemed to be weak, instead of moving up in weight. I responded by saying that Joe was content to stay at a weak SMW division and defend a weak belt.
