Can John Duddy make 154?

he probably could but i feel he would be weight weakened and wouldnt be as good

he wouldnt beat any of the champions down there being weight weakened

 

it will weaken his chin.stay ay 160.fight b level opposition for 2 more years make a lil more money,work on moving his head,then challage a champion.pavlik would murder duddy.duddy vs mora from the contender would be worth a look.

 

If Duddy can make 154 lbs., he should definitely do it. Duddy would do far better against the junior middleweights than against 160 pounders.

Because Duddy is easy to hit and he depends on his firepower to win, his fights tend to turn into physical brawls. Duddy doesn't really have the stamina and upper body strength in order to hang in there physically with the strongest middleweights. If he drops down to 154 lbs., he wouldn't be at such a disadvantage.

Duddy's only other option for compensating for his lack of upper body strength would be to develop better defense and counterpunching skills. But I don't expect Duddy to change his style at this stage of his career.

I think Mora can make 154 much easier than Duddy. Mora looks thiner. Duddy would be drained at 154.

Duddy is just not a world class fighter. But he is a bankable, likeable and T.V friendly fighter, so I see him sticking with the more popular middleweight division right now.

He aint no Gatti but he will get opportunities well beyond his ability much like Arturo did.

 

Duddy used to box as a lightmiddle, when he was a amateur.I have often thought that poundage would be better suited to him.

 

duddy is one of the most overhyped bums I have seen in years...He would get DESTROYED at 154...I have seen 3 of his fights now, all 3 could have gone either way...I just dont see what all the hype is about. He seems to me like a guy who will make a big name for himself so that someone els can beat him and get instant status.

Duddy is a fighter that typically has to gain weight to break 154 to be a MW in the first place.......so yes is the easy answer......
to the next part of the question..Can he be competitive at 154?
I think he would be only slightly more competitive....his power would maybe carry him abit further however he would be beat to the punch and outsmarted by most of the top contenders at 154:deal
