Can Jorge Arce become the first Mexican 4-weight titlist?

Arce has held a strap at three weights; he's past his prime, shopworn, and fighting a naturally bigger fighter on the rise in Wilfredo Vasquez Jr.

How good is Vasquez Jr? I was impressed with his win over Sonsona, who was highly regarded over a win over a guy I thought was decent, at super fly for the WBC title I think. Jumping two weight classes, he was badly Hirt by Vasquez Jrs body assault.

But Arce is a veteran, and has carried a respectable dig through the lower weights. Can he spring an upset? Or will he get damaged again, bleed bucketloads and go out on his shield?

I can see the latter option being more viable, Arce is hard as **** but way past his best. Vasquez Jr can bust him up and force a stoppage in about seven or eight rounds I reckon.

I'm still amazed he continued after that brutal hammering Vic gave him. I think he'll get stopped in the final rounds after giving a decent argument in the opening rounds .

I'd love to see him do it, but I don't think Arce has enough left in the tank. He's been in a lot of wars over the years and it's taken it's toll. Vazquez jr will be too strong for him.

I think this will be an entertaining fight but one that is fairly one sided for WV2. I cannot see where Arce will trouble WV2, I'm going for a mid to late stoppage.

Any opinions on this on the eve of the fight? Or is it a given the fresher, naturally bigger guy stops the shopworn slugger with the porous defence?

I would say it is the latter, still, would love to see Arce do it!

Arce's being looking shitty as of late and is a small super bantam whilst Vazquez is improving with every fight and a solid sized guy at the weight. I'm expecting him to hammer Arce who'll put on a brave stand :-(

Thought I might get some differing opinions, maybe from some who weren't yet won round by Vasquez.

Instead, here's the man in my avatar putting on a masterclass against this young bucks old man :yep

Not seen much of this Vasquez kid so I wouldn't like to say. Can't recall if I saw the Sonsona fight or not...

Although I was wrong, Arce only had straps in two weights. He's now a 'three weight belt holder'.

For a man who was at his best at Fly, this was a solid win for him.
