well Tito is one of my all time favorite fighters, but yeah....i'd say it's possible? Juanma's unstoppable right now, or atleast seems like it.....but alot fighters seem like that, untill they're in the ring with someone great and hungry

but if you asked Cotto? i'd tell you yeah......you guys should worship Cotto, the mans an warrior

    No kidding.

People were saying the same about Miguel Cotto. I wasnt entirely sold on him until he pulled himself of the canvas to beat Torres.

JML is good. And, he still has plenty to prove before we start talking about him among hall of famers.

like most posters said, he can surpass tito's achievements, but not his popularity

With what he's accomplished so far he's on the right track but there is still loads of ground to be covered. But if he beat the following he'd be damn close.

    1.) Yuri Gamboa
2.) Cabellero (after Cabellero bounces back with a win or two.
    3.) Litzau
    4.) Jorge Linares
5.) Utishi (guy who beat the guy who beat Linares)
    6.) Mzonke Fana
    7.) Chris John
    8.) Elio Rojas

If he can beat 5 or 6 off that list over the next two years or so then he'll have accomplished approximately as much as Tito during TIto's welterweight reign. That would still leave some ground to be covered.

He has the size to keep moving up in weight & Skill to attain it.
It's all up to JuanMa's ability to take it while moving up.
(Obviously winning multiple championships in different wt classes won't hurt)

But more that Trinidad, I don't see it.
Tito brought focus "back" to the islands & all eyes have been there since.
    (Post Gomez/Benitez ect...)

I highly doubt anyone will be as popular as tito was and still is...cotto is actually not liked in pr that much because of his demeanor but thats what i like about him the most...the im not here to fill nobodys shoes if you like me good if you dont **** you, juanma on the other hand lacks and falls very short to cotto/tito boxing skills or tito charisma...im Puertorican and im telling yall...PR's next boxing star is not on the radar yet!

I love how Jason Litzau upsets a half-assed Caballero and is all of a sudden now one of 5 or 6 scalps that can put someone on par with Felix Trinidad.

No because the absolute highest Juanma will go is Lightweight and he'll be past his prime by that point. Tito fought at Welter and Middle and it helps that Tito had big names in and around his divisions which are 2 of boxing's glamour division WW and MW. Juanma has Gamboa, maybe Donaire at a later point in their careers they'll end up around the same weight but other than that he's got no one that will give him the glamour Tito got, he's not at a weight that produces big stars and although he's brutal, he's not quite as devestating as Tito.

If he beats Gamboa, Caballero, Mikey Garcia when he steps up, Rojas, John, moves up and owns SFW then maybe.

He's taken the Trinidad route by beating older yet forrmidable vets(Marquez & Penalosa) but I don't think JML will be as dominant as Trinidad was at WW. He may be able to move up in weight better but Trinidad will forever be greater. He needs a big fight with Gamboa soon for me to further assess his standings.
