What you think of Brook IB?. Is he all smoke and mirrors like my man Slip calls it or you think the lads got potential to do well on world scene.
I think Brook has everything on paper that you'd want in a prospect on the cusp of graduating to contender (although if he were a Dungeons and Dragons character, it might do to take just a few points off his Speed ability score and reallocate it to his Power...borrowing a little from Peter to pay Paul, as it were - but that's splitting hairs, really) - all we can do is wait on the revealing of the intangibles to see if he's truly a world class operator. He does nothing explicitly wrong. There are some mighty good welterweights going around these days, however. What does he do when his natural athleticism, wonderful jab and quick hands fail to impress someone who's already at or above the same level? :think We need to know what his mind's made up of - and Rafal Jackiewicz with his always-coming-forward fighter's spirit (not to mention his very sneaky ability to make an opponent miss a good deal at short range on occasion despite not outwardly seeming all that swift about his movements) should go a way towards answering that for us.
Did I really just expose my nerdy roots by drawing a boxing-to-D&D analogy? ****ing German bier really does me in.
Who is the ref? If its one of IJL, Parris or my personal favourite Terry O Connell it will be three figures on the stoppage I lost out last time on the stoppage v Ndou because Victor Loughlin didn't read the script so I'm hoping for a referee with a better understanding re bull**** stoppages In saying that, Special K might just whack him up. He says that sky want him to be his next PPV star so he has to start looking scintillating. The junior witter school of entertaining( all that matters is the win) does not a a PPV star make
I can't remember his chin ever being tested for you to be making a claim like that...when did he look vulnerable and wobbled?
From the footage I've seen of Rafal, he has the ability to give Kell a tough nights work. His defensive guard is pretty tight, he rolls with shots nicely and he decent head movement. Plus he throws crisp straight punches with a decent counter right hand. He doesn't seem the greatest of movers and I've not seen the Jennings fight, but I imagine Jennings beat him with movement and footspeed, something I've not seen from Kell. I can see Kell hitting a lot of gloves tonight and If Rafal starts timing the counters it could well deter Kell. I'd be very surprised if Kell gets the stoppage. Looks a decent fight and one the bookies have gone a bit OTT on.
Very good points. If it's one of the Big Three, the Pole is getting stopped on his feet. :yep Here's hoping we get an uncooperative Loughlin type who marches to the beat of his own drum and lets things play out on their own. :good
Brook is an odd fighter, I think he's got a lot of fundamentals mastered offensively (though he would do well to improve his body work) in the sense his jab is right up there and his right hand is pretty picture perfect. But some of the square on nonsense and pulling back with his chin in the air is just not right. It's like he's learnt half the game. Luckily he hasn't fought anybody that was any kind of offensive threat to really test his weaknesses. This guy may be able to but the problem is he has no power anyway.
And yeah Brook has somewhat of a chance at a stoppage. Bonsu isn't a big puncher, Zaveck's an okay puncher but very slow and Delvin Rodriguez isn't a big puncher. So whichever way you look at it Brook is probably the freshest, fastest and best puncher he's fought keeping in mind Brook was able to hurt N'dou and look as likely to stop him at certain points as just about anybody. Then again if he hides behind the peek-a-boo it will be difficult to stop him like that other Polish fella Brook fought, so it just depends how the guy comes to fight.
:nono Delvin Rodriguez is a more than fair puncher, TFFP. He got iron-jawed Wolak's attention several times in their bloody war, and the effect of his punches was not limited to the visible evidence of Pawel's minced face meat.
Mediocre at best IB. If you're going to walk through punches in each and every fight like Wolak does regardless of his chin he is going to get wobbled on occasion.
Well, when Howard Foster's afoot.. That codpiece gypped me out of $400 on the Over 9.5 rounds. (assuming Jackiewicz's corner wasn't close to sparing him more punishment)
He probably could've stopped the Pole. As it is, this was more of an outclassing. British reffing and judging is **** It's embarrassing.
