If ever these 2 fight do you actually see Kovalev being able to play Ward's game and outbox him like he did against Hopkins? Granted, Hopkins was indeed old and past it but he was still considered the best and most skilled boxer in the division and for Kovalev to soundly beat him technically is impressive. Does Kovalev have the tools to put on a disciplined boxing clinic against Ward or does he need to go for a KO to beat him?
Of course. With a jab like Kovalev's and jabbing to the body like he did, that upped Kov's game big time. I mean, we all expected Bhops even at this stage to be competitive, and you could tell he tried, and anyone else not named Kovalev he surely would of. But Kov was just on another level. I still did notice Kov struggling abit to get his second wind, he tried masking and hiding it, which he did very well. I remember him getting stunned badly by Bernard somewhere between the 8-11 rds, so those are the only 2 doubts I have about Kov. Ward might be able to do what Bhops was aiming to do, but like I said, Kov's jab is a great one and I won't be surprised if Kov built a huge lead only for Ward to possibly stop him late. Kov likes to lead AND finish the exchanges, aside from being an underrated counterpuncher, which he isn't known for. This man is as dedicated to offense as Bhops and Floyd are to defense. Most of the time has his opponents on the defensive he forgets about his own.
