Can Lemieux hit GGG with the same shots Monroe and Murray did?

If David Lemieux hits Gennady Golovkin with some of the same punches that Willie Monroe and Martin Murray did, then I think Golovkin could be facing his first loss in the Lemieux bout.

We all know Golovkin can take a punch, but Lemieux is a different level of puncher than Monroe and Murray are.

Whatever the case, I'm glad that the middleweight title will be somewhat unified after this fight.

How interesting the fight can be may come down to whether or not Lemieux can find the same openings that Monroe and Murray found when they faced Golovkin.

That's a good question. But that kind of amateur pedigree doesn't come without at least decent defence.

People talking about Stevens... he's not a monstrous puncher at middleweight. He was timid and that has an affect on how much mus**** you put on your punches. This isn't a video game, their punches don't measure the same every night.

On Lemieux hurting Golovkin... that all depends on whether or not Golovkin allows Lemieux to have the same opportunities. He didn't respect Murray or Monroe's power. No doubt Golovkin has a damn good chin, but those guys were not a threat to him.

I thought about this before I made the thread, but I think Stevens just wore down from fatigue. I expect Lemieux to be in better shape as a natural middleweight.

You would think so. But GGG was open on several occasions against Murray and Monroe. If he is that open against Lemieux, he could have some issues.

    Golovkin has shown good defense

The two guys you listed didn't hit him all that much

Plus I think he got careless defensively for 2 reasons

1- he had no respect for their power

2-he wanted them to open up co he could land something big

I think one of the reasons he got hit so many times against Murray is to open up his guard a bit, just like the "top of the head" shot. Also he claimed he didn't try hard against Monroe in 3rd and 4th rounds to carry him, that's why he took those shot. We'll never know if it was true though.

No. GGG will not allow himself to be hit flush with those same shots. Boxers take precautions against opponents whose power is respected.

I got news for you gents, GGG didn't give Monroe them shots. He can talk his ass off but I know what I saw. He put on some bravado at one point when Monroe ran a combo on his face like " come on, you can't hurt me". He only did that because he got embarrassed. I said this before and I will say it again. I know that Lemieux is an underdog and he should be because GGG has all around better skills. The thing is that GGG can be hit and Lemieux hits with bad intentions. All he needs to do is believe in himself and fight with confidence and courage. There is a real chance that he can put the G man on his ass and out for the count. JMO.

Monroe is more accurate than Lemieux.
