I mean the fans can't claim that Loma's a tiny fella fighting giants when making the exact same 135 lbs and in the same breath going down to his natural weight would drain him too much. He's either a legit LW or a legit FW, forum can't have it both ways, this is not quantum physics.
No, Loma's ideal weight is 130lbs. Had Loma campaigned at 130lbs for any length of time, as I had hoped, he'd be in the discussion as one of the ATGs at the weight. Prime Loma at 130lbs was an absolute sublime amalgamation of power, speed, boxing ability, defensive acumen, and ring IQ. No one over the last few years or so, including Stevenson and Davis, beat that kid at 130lbs.
So it's like he's an ATG in odd weight classes and a B-fighter losing to ppl. below his class in even ones? Isn't that just convenient, picking the sole weight class he's yet to lose in as an argument of his ATG status and ignoring every other class where he gets beaten. Okay, sign me up for Inoue completing list at 130lbs.
It isn't a question of convenience but rather one of reality, unless you're suggesting that 126 or 135 is Lomachenko's best weight. If you believe 135 is Lomachenko's ideal weight, you're full-of-**** or a moron, or maybe both. Take you're pick. As for 126, I think he's certainly closer to his apex, but a much stronger argument can be made for 130lbs based on his performances at that weight. How is Lomachenko a "B" fighter at any weight? In my opinion (and that of a majority of boxing fans, incidentally) Lomachenko just defeated a bigger, much younger unified 135lbs champion. His sole loss at that weight without any controversy, moreover, was to a younger, bigger guy who just dominated one of the top 1-2 or fighters at 140. Ignoring every other class where Lomachenko gets beaten? Such as? I'm certainly not convinced that Inoue beats a prime Lomachenko at 126. Lomachenko dared to be great against Salido, and he came up just short against an overweight, foul prone veteran in his second pro fight. Had they rematched, Lomachenko would have stopped the old warehouse (Salido and his team knew it as well and avoided a rematch like the plague).
Loma fought in 3 divisions and lost in 2, Inoue fought in 5 and lost in 0. There's a real ATG for you.
I guess you'll try a new approach since your other bullsh*t didn't fly. Ok--I'll bite. Duran lost in multiple divisons. Are you suggesting he isn't an ATG great fighter? Or do we only apply that criteria selectively? I think Inoue is well on his way to achieving ATG great status. I have zero animus towards or quarrel with the Japanese superstar. His accomplishments, however, are entirely immaterial to anything I've said about Lomachenko. You've got a stick up your a$$ about Lomachenko. That's your prerogative. Just don't pretend as if it's anything else.
