Can Mayweather hurt Marquez? And vice-versa?

On one hand, Mayweather is not a puncher, but he is ~10lbs bigger than Marquez, who has never fought at a weight this high. Plus, he's very accurate with his punches. I think it's unlikely that he stops Marquez, but i think he can definitely hurt the man. Let's not forget that Marquez was hurt twice by Diaz, who is a natural lightweight but not really a big hitter.

And the other way around..... Mayweather proved to have a really solid jaw, and while JMM's uppercuts are great, i think he can take anything that gets through. This one will go to the scorecards, i think.

I believe a prime, fit Floyd can hurt JMM and could even knock him out. Floyd isn't a power puncher but with speed and timing (something a prime Floyd had in abundance) even a relatively light puncher can KO someone. Add the fact that Floyd will be bigger then there is a good chance a prime Floyd could KO JMM.

However with the lay of i don't know. I have heard that Floyd has kept himself fit during his two year absence from the ring but even this won't have stopped some ring rust setting in and were as his speed shouldn't be to effected by it i believe his timing won't be what it used to be...at least in the early rounds.

As for Marquez hurting Floyd...i don't think JMM could hurt a prime Floyd to much. JMM is smaller and isn't a huge puncher anyway. Add that to the fact a prime Floyd was incredably hard to hit clean and at these higher weights JMM is a bit slower then i don't think JMM would have hurt a prime Floyd. But like i mentioned before Floyd might not be as good as he once was. Floyd's ability to take a shot still might be good but if he gets hit often (not that Floyd ever got hit often but he could get hit more often than he has done in a long time) he could wilt.

Personally i feel that if Floyd's ability's and timing havn't been to effected by the lay of then he will win by late round stoppage.

What could be interesting here is how Floyd fight's. Floyd's punch output became a lot more conservative in his later career because of his hand problems and the fact he was fighting bigger guys. The lay of could have helped his hands and if JMM can't gain Floyd's respect with his power then we might see Floyd opening up more like he used to do when fighting at the lower weights.

    IMO, yes and yes.

But I'd be surprised if either one did, badly.

There's no question in my mind that Floyd can hurt JMM but I think the reverse is also true.

Juan has never really been considered a puncher but he's very accurate and he managed to ko Casa and Diaz so he obviously has pretty good power. He also hurt Pac a couple of times and how many guys have done that?

I think the first few rounds for Mayweather will be tricky, with JMM adding a lot of pressure and starting off the more offence fighter. Once Mayweather weathers the storm i see him settling down and attacking at will leading to a late TKO.

I think he can hurt Maqrquez, and Marquez has a slight chance of hurting him because these guys know how to throw textbook punches.

Hmm, i'm not too sure about that. Marquez seems to be a bit of slow starter. Pac trashed him early in both of their bouts and Diaz looking like he was going to have an easy night, based on the first two rounds.
