Enough with these catchweights, great boxers in the past and ATG's have fought at a catchweight also for a title fight. :deal

Yes you are right, which means Pacquiao is still a 6 division world champion if you are that mad.

Other great boxers or atg's have fought at catchweights...sames goes to Mayweather who has fought at catchweights twice.

    Floyd Mayweather jr:
''I fight my opponents in their weight class, no catchweight'' :deal

How can a catchweight be considered winning the title. These guys are willing to sell their title because the money is so great, but that really makes these alphabet titles worhtless.

What weightclass is 156? Also no I doubt floyd will win a middleweight title. His body seems overextended at 154 as is.

a CATCHWEIGHT of 156 pounds for the Middleweight Title.
I doubt Mayweather will go up to the full 160 pounds to fight a live champion such as Golovkin.

But if Martinez looks like crap against a way past his prime bloated Cotto who is moving up from 154.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather takes the fight against Martinez.

Personally I find catchweights irritating as hell, but it is a part of the sport so I guess you have to recognize it. Doubt floyd would move up to fight sergio (if cotto wins somehow he'd be crazy not to). Havent heard floyd express any interest in fighting martinez, if he does take the fight I give him immense credit as he would be fighting a legit champ well above the weight he should be fighting at.

Not sure why? The weight classes are just as arbitrary. It's not like the weight limit is different for both guys, same conditions, deemed possible and agreed upon by both fighters before the fight. No difference two guys fighting at 147 or 152.

If both can make the weight limit comfortably then yes there is not really a problem. Just takes away from the achievement a bit if one of the two has to boil down for the bout and not be at 100%

Here's what I'd like to see Floyd do in his last 4 Showtime fights.

Beat Maidana at 147 to hold two 147 titles.
Drop down and beat Danny Garcia at 140 for his titles.
Move up and fight another 154 title holder to take his tally to three.
Move up to fight Sergio or Cotto (on the premise that they've also won another belt at the weight) for two titles at Middleweight

    2 at JWW
    2 at WW
    3 at JMW
    2 at MW

That would be his tally when he retires, if he wins all fights.

It's either that or he attempts to totally unify the WW and MW divisions, which is possible also. In all likelihood he could finish it all with a fight with Manny or Bradley at WW to end it all.

I think he should be aiming to do something really special, because he's capable of it. Something historians will look back on and say "wow!".

In contrast, it is just as fair expecting a much lighter guy to move higher than their physical limit. So long as it's agreed by both men I have absolutely no issue with it. If someone has to boil themselves down and still decides to go ahead, that's on him, he should have negotiated better conditions or taken a different fight.

So IF Cotto defeats Martinez and wins the belt @ Middleweight, we all knows Mayweather will grab that opportunity because he had already defeated Cotto @ 154.

But wasn't Cotto already ''damaged goods'' before his fight with Manny Pacquiao?

I'm not sure if the OP knows if 160 is the middleweight limit.

Yes I know the middleweight limit is 160 pounds, I said a catchweight of 156 pounds because Mayweather wouldn't even fight a ''champion'' in Alvarez for the full 154 pounds Title instead they fought @ a catchweight of 152.

Full 160 pounds right now would be too much for Mayweather specially going in against Golovkin.
