I was referring to the mainland Europe. And they are not famous at all. Hardly anyone has heard about either Pacquiao or Mayweather unless they are boxing fans. It's delusional to believe that they are popular in the European countries, because they are virtually unknown outside the boxing circles.

Maybe you are right about the UK, I don't know, but if you ask an average person in Germany, Italy, France, Greece or some other country about Manny or Floyd, they would probably have no idea who are you talking about. Other than Klitschkos, no boxer is massively popular in Europe.

I'm glad you feel so comfortable talking about all those countries.

In the UK and Ireland they are extremely famous. They are crossover stars, the only ones in boxing.

If that fight where to happen in London, Paris or Amsterdam, I would be travelling from Ireland to go see it. It would be a once in a lifetime oppertunity.

I think that's because boxing as a sport is more popular in the UK and Ireland than it is in Europe. There are established names in Germany that always generate good interest, but it's not like they are superstars selling out the stadiums. Sturm, Huck and Abraham always generate good ratings, but there's no way they can pack a 50.000 stadium. In Italy, even the WSB is more popular and getting more coverage than pro boxing. Greece, Balkan countries and Eastern Europe, that's pretty much Wladimir getting huge attention and the others getting very little. Generally Klitschko is the only boxer who is a superstar in Europe, able to generate huge ratings and attendances and that's it.

US based boxers like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Cotto etc are unknown. Really there's a minimal chance anyone would know about them unless we are talking about the boxing fans or people related to boxing.

Manny and Floyd are big in the UK and Ireland but the rest of Europe i don't think so. Probably are big in Germany as well, they won't be big stars elsewhere fact is in Greece, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal ect their is **** all boxing and their not into boxing in these countries, Boxing while not mainstream is still big news in the UK and the UK often has Marquee fighters Hatton, Haye, Eubank ect who all the public know. In most of mainland europe they have few top boxers so won't likely know who Pacquiao or Mayweather are.

I say no. The Brits have a very sensitive idea of thrilla and derby and this is their own derby like they had in the past. It doesn't work with foreigners, it doesn't work with a foreigner and a brit, Hatton put 22k in Manchester for Tszyu. I don't know the numbers for Calzaghe against Kessler but those can't be higher than Calzaghe against Eubank. A derby in the Brit way is between two sons of the land who are well known outside but hate each other guts... Chris Eubanks vs Nigel Benn MW and SMW... Chris Eubanks vs Michael Watson MW and SMW... Frank Bruno vs Lennox Lewis HW... Carl Froch vs George Grooves SMW.

9 people dont know what they are talking about. Mayweather and Pacman would easily sell out wembley. It would be the biggest fight in the history of boxing

    I reckon so.....
The fight has lost all it's lustre in terms of real significance to the sport, but its still significant in terms of being historic and people would buy tickets just to say "they were there"....
