freddie Roach appeared surprised when he learned that he wont be working Oscar's corner for the latter's May fight and eventual rematch with floyd, jr. but, will Oscar's return with Mayweather Sr. earn him the victory against floyd thus leading him to dump roach or is this just a marketing ploy to sell this unpopular rematch. imo, this is just a marketing move and he will still lose a close fight agsainst floyd
in addition, I dont discount of the possibility of an oscar victory, however, a win by oscar may be the positive result of keepin himself busy this year as he in fact will fight in May before taking on Mayweather for the rematch, rather than the techniques or strategies that may be passed on to him by Floyd Sr.
I may be wrong but i see it as being a huge advantage for de le hoya. I mean may sr. taught his boy his basic defensive strategy....may sr. knows how to break that strategy. In my opinion it is just up to de le hoya to follow through, but who knows at this stage in his career.
Great advertisement and he has a bigger chanche with Sr. couse Sr is Juniors dad, the guy who made junior the fighter he is.
Mayweather Sr. can tell DeLaHoya everything he tought Mayweather Jr. but Mayweather knows what that is. Having Sr. in his corner well not make a diffrence for DeLaHoya
i dont think oscar will be as fit as freddy got him, senior might be the better technician, but i doubthe willpush oscar as hard as freddy did.
Purely marketing. Oscar will never beat Floyd, hes a one armed fighter. He has the strength, but enough weapons.
Partly marketing move to hype a rematch. Partly because Oscar maybe feels he could of done better first time around had he had Sr. in his corner.
Sr may have taught Jr all Jr knows, but he never taught anyone how to beat it. Besides, i get tired of people talking about this as though Sr has a whole bunch of secrets to teach Oscar. Everybody sees and knows what PBF does, DLH must have already analyzed it to death the first time and it didn't help him too much. What he did figure out is that PBF is susceptible to jabs, which was the most important thing the first time IMO and is the most important thing now. Let's see if he can keep throwing it now, and if so, what PBF will do about it.
This post is 100% right on. There is no secret on how to beat Floyd. Beating Floyd's style is easy...in theory. The problem is that Floyd is really talented and fast. Oscar will simply have to try harder this time, perhaps review some tapes see what he did wrong last time. A tune up fight is a good idae to start. You don't need Floyd Sr for any of this. The only benefit of having Floys Sr in your corner is that it might get into Jr. Head a bit. Perhaps it will make Jr. want to "fight" more and run less... the old "Ill show you dad!" thing. This is a complete intangable asset. In may in fact be a detriment. What if seeing Floyd Sr. across the ring makes Floyd extra cautious to not lose?
