Can Mayweather steal Sept 12 from Canelo?

    OK. So the question still remains. Who could Floyd face to take that date from Canelo?

    Sept 12th is a Mexican holiday. Canelo gave up the last date to him, because of obvious reasons. Canelo stealing the date from him Sept 12th, would consist of him fighting an opponent that the majority would like to see, vs Floyd fighting someone no one wants to see.

    in casuals eyes it will be on par with a floyd fight so its kind of a stupid idea because its just going to cause them to both do lower numbers

    its floyds last fight anyways

    Well then Alvarez can go fight in Mexico on that day. Anyway, you're asking the wrong question. You're asking what can Floyd do to get a date that he already has. Roc Nation and HBO have already said they will not challenge Floyd for that date. Cotto vs. Canelo will take place in October or November, that's already been decided.

    He's giving up September 12th for the same obvious reasons. Doesn't really matter who Mayweather fights at this stage, the majority(casuals) are easily buying and watching the Mayweather fight regardless of opponent.

    Would not be surprised if it's Mayweather-Cotto II. Everyone thought the Cotto-Canelo deal was a done deal early this year. Remember Bob Arum saying, "it's disrespectful to fight on May 2nd" and of course all the Excusequiao fans saying Floyd has to give up May 2nd?

    Floyd has that date. Canelo may be the fighter of tomorrow but Floyd is the fighter of today. Floyd will probably fight one of Cotto, Canelo, GGG or Thurman on September the 12th.

    Nothing is being stolen. It's his. Canelo/Cotto won't compete with Mayweather. That's already been said.
