can Mikkel Kessler have a better legacy then calzaghe when he retires

Every British and Danish publication had the fight 115-113 (with nearly every round being close) and JC nearly got KTFO twice at the hands of a Kessler fighting without sparring at JC's home ground.

Imagine if people said that Pac would never beat Morales record after being schooled by him or that Paul Williams will never be better than Quintana if he hadn't got a rematch.

Or Ali would never be better thatn Frazier.

Or Frazier never better than Foreman.

Or if Calzaghes paper-thin decision over Robin Reid had gone the other way.

If Kessler beat Hopkins and Bika and Lacy more convincingly than JC did (hey, Hiopkins was offered 4m$ to fight Kessler and he refused) then yes, I'd say he was better.

Kessler lost to Calzaghe on an off day while Calzaghe fought arguably the best fight of his career.

 

Similar to Adamek?

Adamek is small for CW and he has a two inch reach advantage and 1/2 inch height advantage over Kessler.

Like some othe others have said it's possible, but he's got to get busy and sharpish.

Beat Bute, Froch, Pavlik, Abraham(if he moves up) Taylor, Ward & Dawson. Dunno if it'd be possible for him to make those big fights happen while they are still at the top.

 

Not impossible but I'd say its quite unlikely.

Firstly he'd have to really get a move on. He'd have to get in all the big fights at SMW, Froch/Bute, Abraham/Pavlik, contenders like Ward, move up and dominate at LHW too.

Thats a lot of work in his current situation and there is no guarantee he'd win all those fights even if he's favoured.

 

he's not yet finished with his career but he has a lot of work to do.

 

So the fact that Hopkins was over 40, means that the fact that he was top 5 p4p regardless of his age (age doesn't come in to p4p rankings), in his next fight beat a top 10 p4p fighter who was unified middleweight champ and is still p4p top 5 doesn't come in to it! You are an idiot!

 

If Mikkel Kessler was WBA/WBC/WBO-IBF champion,and was able to defend his title several times,and beating the best in the division.He would make a really great legacy.
But Calzaghe is UNDEFEATED and Kessler have one loss...And im from denmark,and a big kesslerfan...But joe´s legacy is outstanding no matter what people said...HE NEVER LOST!!!
But kessler will come back strong,to build up his own legacy,we hopefully all can be proud of.

Will he? Maybe. Joe only had a handful of really big names on his resume.

 

Undefeated records are overrated. JC almost lost to Robin Reid, Ali lost to Frazier and Norton, Pac lost to two unknowns etc.
Kessler had a bad night against a guy badly suited to his style. Just like Frazier lost twice to another guy (Foreman) with a style suited badly for him. That didn't make them worse than some of the undefeated fighters out there.

 

90% NO...calzaghe already beat him in his prime...how good kessler does would only make calzaghe much better...

but ofcourse, he can gain grounds on longetivity much like hopkins

but yes Tomaz is small for Cruiser. but again Kessler at Cruiser most likely will not happen cuz he's got plenty of fights to take care of at Super Middle, then there's Light Heavy ... but first comes Super Middle.

 

Of course he can, all he has to do is spend the next few years fighting the best comp available. Joe's resume is very thin. It can be easily overtaken by Kessler if he gets a move on and can actually win the big fights - which I'm not certain he is capable of. Hopkins would comprehensively outbox him.

 

yes he can have a better legacy if he gets out from under the ****ing sack of **** palle and fights the best smw out there (and the division is stacked)....

before everyone goes and puts joe's win over him as the be all end all...rjj beat bhop early in bhop's career. many argue bhop now has a better legacy. if kessler can string together some big wins over these smw contenders in their prime then why not??

 

true, Bute and Froch are 2 fights that would really help his legacy for sure.

hopefully Mikkel can get one or both in the ring.
