Can Mosley Stick And Move His Way Past Margarito?

Mosley's stick and move often gives way to attack attack and attack. I do think he can outpunch Margo in a brawl though. Margo will have to be a better boxer in this one cuz Mosley only knows how to brawl now but he still brawls hard and he's bigger than Cotto. This is gonna be a crazy fight.

 

NO, he cant keep up with Margaritos pace and will lose by decision or by KO.

 

If Mayorga was almost beating him be sure Margarito will defeat him for sure

Mayorga was beating him because he Mayorga hits very very hard in unorthodox style. Margo can be ko'd by a quicker fighter with power. It remains to be seen if Mosley is still that quicker fighter. Probably not, but I don't think Margo walks through him. Mosley will make Marg give him respect with the first straight right of the night.

Advantages for Mosley is that Margarito doesnt have a straight jab that he fires out, it is more of a whipping hook. Margarito actually uses it pretty effectively, but Mosley should be able to catch the punch on his gloves.

Mosley's troubles are going to come from Margarito coming forward constantly throwing punches. Margarito strongest ability I have observed is that he fights in all three punching ranges.

He can fight at a distance with whipping shots with all the power at the end of the gloves, and if he has to fight long range he just keeps throwing and throwing alternationg between the head an body trying to open up his opponent

Coming into you he then fires with midrange punches that he really pivots into with power,

and at close range to toe he can fire powerful uppercuts and hooks, and considering you cant really hurt him you are pretty much ****ed if this happened.

He is obviously prefers fighting close, as works the body and head and breaks people down with the body shots

No one wins fighting to toe with him. He can take anything you hit him with and will still hurt you. Cotto found this out in the 2nd round when he tried to brawl and then was struck when he realized that he had just hit Margarito with his best punches and they had not done anything. No one can win a war of attrition with him in that regard.

The best way to beat Margarito would be a very accurate boxer-boxer that can counter him enough and take advantage of the holes in his defense from firing so many shots. The problem with this is that his output is so high that you would have to land enough times to where you could convincingly win the round. And to do that you have to anticipate that you are going to get hit and hope you are good enough that it wont be something big.

Paul Williams had his success because of his excellent reach and the fact that he also threw so many punches. He never hurt Margarito but his activity level was better and Margarito had to fight at long range and was only able to close the gap in the late rounds when he picked up the pace.

Margarito is beatable, but you have to be able to match him in size and strength. A smaller fighter even if they are very good boxers are going to get walked down. Watching Margo against Sergio Martinez, Martinez was able to use his speed and reflexes and jab, but he ran into the problem that he just could not keep Margarito off of him or hit him with anything that would make him back up, and he eventually got caught and got KOed.

Mosley is not the man to beat Margarito.

At mid range where Mosley likes to fight margarito is going to be right there in front of him working to back him up and open him up. Mosley may have success with the straight right but it wont be enough. He will end up having to back and up and be on the defensive before trying to fight back. He is going to take a lot of punches and the rounds are going to grueling.

I had a longer answer but instead I'll just say yes to your question. Mosley loves to get into punching contests cuz he usually comes out on top.
