Mosley's troubles are going to come from Margarito coming forward constantly throwing punches. Margarito strongest ability I have observed is that he fights in all three punching ranges.

No one wins fighting to toe with him. He can take anything you hit him with and will still hurt you. Cotto found this out in the 2nd round when he tried to brawl and then was struck when he realized that he had just hit Margarito with his best punches and they had not done anything. No one can win a war of attrition with him in that regard.

The best way to beat Margarito would be a very accurate boxer-boxer that can counter him enough and take advantage of the holes in his defense from firing so many shots. The problem with this is that his output is so high that you would have to land enough times to where you could convincingly win the round. And to do that you have to anticipate that you are going to get hit and hope you are good enough that it wont be something big.

Paul Williams had his success because of his excellent reach and the fact that he also threw so many punches. He never hurt Margarito but his activity level was better and Margarito had to fight at long range and was only able to close the gap in the late rounds when he picked up the pace.

Margarito is beatable, but you have to be able to match him in size and strength. A smaller fighter even if they are very good boxers are going to get walked down. Watching Margo against Sergio Martinez, Martinez was able to use his speed and reflexes and jab, but he ran into the problem that he just could not keep Margarito off of him or hit him with anything that would make him back up, and he eventually got caught and got KOed.

Mosley is not the man to beat Margarito.

At mid range where Mosley likes to fight margarito is going to be right there in front of him working to back him up and open him up. Mosley may have success with the straight right but it wont be enough. He will end up having to back and up and be on the defensive before trying to fight back. He is going to take a lot of punches and the rounds are going to grueling.

:good very good assessment. i've always thought mosley's defense is his footwork which is among the best in the game, but he always leaves that chin hanging or unprotected and never tucks it in like b-hop does, that's why i think shane will always be a sucker for the uppercut, which margo will throw in abundance. the strange similiarity i do see in both despite their contrast in styles is they like to paw at their opponents, mosley usually with his jab to find his range, home in, and land a right which should alert the opponent the right hand is coming, and for margo it usually a 2-3 soft uppercuts followed by a crunching body attack. my bad, they also have heart so i think this fight will not disappoint

I agree, I'm wondering though if Mosley will just do whatever it takes to win and ahere to a tight gameplan. He is supposed to be a consumate pro and all. He should, theoritically, be capable of executing a winning strategy, even at the expense of his instinctive urges. But this is Mosley we're talking about.
