He struggles to make 160 as we know... can he actually get down to 154? Sure, he only has to reach it for a day and then rehydrate back up to 170 or so but how much of a toll will it have on him. I predict rubbish power and decreased stamina. Luckily he has cherry picked Medley (who is a blown up jr welter) because any of the top guys will kill him at this weight. Time will tell i suppose
Mundine has never gone on a diet to make weight.....he has started his diet now to get down....he will make it :deal......however the fight will be close because of the above points
I think mundine will be looking for a ko to get some hype back tbh also if he ****s himself weight wise I think he will want a short fight, im gonna put out a mundine by round 5 prediction :deal
Reckon you're on the money. But why he'd starve himself to avoid Geale II astounds me. It certainly looks like he has no plans for anything that resembles a contest for the remainder of his career.
This falls within your area of expertise Ray. How do you see the outcome of this scenario even in a generic sense (not necessarilly Mundine's in particular). Do you see the fighter trying to do this come up dehydrated, loosing power etc. (Barry Michael managed to do it pretty effectively when he took Lester's title all those years ago).
hes got no intention of making the weight. he knows at the end of the day medley will be happy for the payday and wont cancel the fight if he comes in over the weight.
He'll make the weight but he won't be able to keep doing over the next 2-3yrs as he gets older. Troy Waters was 5'11 and made 154lbs all his life, i don't think Mundine is any taller.
