With Campbell finally fighting again against Funeka this weekend, I've been thinking. Is it attainable for Nate? Is he a case of a fighter that's simply had everything come together too late, at too advanced an age? Or is he a fighter that we've yet to see the best of similar to what Hopkin's did against Trinidad and then continued to do? Would wins over Marquez and Barrera push him up up there? He already has three LW belts.... What matches are there that could be made to make him a ATG or something approaching one? And thoughts on the Funeka match?
I like him, but imo he's not got near that level of ability imo. He's a decent world level lightweight. One of the best around just now, but i don't see anything that would put him abov guys like Watt, Jimmy Paul, O'grady etc..
Agreed. I wouldnt even pick him over Greg Haugen. The atg greats at lightweight like Chavez, Duran, Ortiz, Mosley, Whitaker... would all beat the living **** outta Nate Campbell, and would do so with minimal effort.
Nah. He's too old now and really aint THAT good. If Diaz didn't get that bad cut over his eye he probably wins there fight.
No friggin' way. At his best he's just a good, respectable contender/titlist. No way he's an ATG under any circumstances.
Yes, but if his last few fights are any indication we haven't quite seen the best of Campbell yet. Wins over the likes of Marquez (Who's considered by many to be the second best P4P fighter in the world) and Barrera wouldn't help Nate's cause here?
Marquez could (though personally, I think he's very overrated by many right now) but not Barrera. Barrera is way past his best. Who knows if he'll even get by Khan.
