I am not a fan of any of them but this was just so frekin disgusting. Saw that he could not hurt him on head nor body and starts to punch into his balls. Worst is that tony weeks. Biggest low life i have seen for a long time
So kovalev sits on the rope totally done and it's somehow not ok to sotp the fight? Stoppage was fair and the "lowblow" was a shot on the beltline, Ward stopped you hero. Get real it's not Wards career that's done, It's Sergeis.
Sergey's going to Haymon, K2, Bob, or Oscar. He'll come again with a REAL PROMOTER who will not allow a bought referee to allow their fighter to take an intentional butt and low blow in the prior rd, the butt opening a cut, and the nutshot causing severe cramps. Then, well, you see......nutshot, no call by the BOUGHT REF, then the R hand to exposed jaw, follwed by some pushing shoving to the corner where 3-4 more nutshots ensure the BOUGHT REF waves it off. Oscar or Al woulda had Ward and Rigo DQd tonight, or in Ward's case, forced to use only his hands for offense, and his head would be a point deduction, and the low blows woulda made Ward focus on boxing, which he was being SCHOOLED.
DQd for what, hitting him @the beltline. Sure you can argue that he should have gotten a count but Sergei sat in the ropes looking totally done. I think the stoppage was fair and he should himself taken a knee instead of a sitdown at the ropes.
What the hell??? The last punch that was thrown was totaly on his dik and insteed of givin ward a warning or at least kovalev a break or at least a normal count ( as if it was a legal punch) he stopped the fight. Pathetic.... i mean it is one thing to root for a dirty clinching diva but a ball buster..... thats just so low. The reason why kovalev was rocked, was because he got punched to the balls and could not focus on wards hands because he was so busy chekin his own scrotum. If kovalev would have adapted the same tactics against ward he would get dqs in 20 seconds
As a Ward fan, even I agree 1 or 2 of those last punches were low. They should of been called. I don't think it was fair on Kovalev to stop the fight. It is a disappointing end to the fight.
You don't recover from bodyshots like you do from headshots, if you're hurt at the body your'e done. And it wasn't like Kova was fighting back, he was sitting down at the ropes in the end while Ward was ripping him. So no I think it was a good stoppage of a guy who was completley done and if he would have gotten up would just have been stopped later on.
It just does not matter if ans what. Pro boxing is a dirty sport and clinch ellbows and head butts are part of it but obvious low blows is just a absolute limit. I dont hate ward i dont like kovalev but obvious low blows lile this are just the worst thing you can do. And i am not even that pissed at ward its a fight they will try everything to get out of there with their healty ass and a result. Tony weeks has the problem to tolerate this and to not give kovalev a count at least.
The thing is the referee had set the standard for low blow on the first warning to ward. It really looks bad when he didn't call it low with the standard he set earlier, so after seeing kovelov hurt by the low blow and referee gesturing. to continue, ward was not going to stop hitting low. I really feel kovelovs defensive posture was to protect himself from blows below the belt because he was hurt their.
