I guess the question can be taken two ways-

Can one punch ruin a fighter's ability to fight, and

Can one punch change people's perception of a fighter- say, from being an ATG or HOFer to a glass jawed joke?

    Edit- inb4 roy jones

Just the fighter I had in mind.

I guess its more on the level of how often does this occur, as it does happen

Imagine if Robearto Duran's KO at the hands of Hearns happened in this PC age. We would see a bunch of trash about how Duran needs to retire.

Yep , in the case of Roy Jones it changed his entire phychology in the ring. He became gun shy after that which ironically led to more KO's/losses.

One punch is all it takes in this sport.. its a dangerous sport one punch and it can be lights out. Thats why reflexive action and being always alert and having a clear mind is important when your in the ring

I wouldnt say he became guy shy... he just doesnt have the legs he use to have and doesnt have as much power.. still has crazy overall speed though. Plus he cant take a shot very well... not the best recuperative abilities..

Terrible example. JT's last 10 fights were against guys who were recent, current, or future world titlists at the time. Among them you'll find an all time great, a sure fire IBHOF inductee, and a beast with a 90% KO ratio, and JT fought 9 of those fights before he fought Abraham. Again, terrible example.

Ask Herol Bomber Graham...undefeated till 1 punch of Julian Jackson. Up to that moment he was giving a masterclass on Jackson.

I wouldn't say that was "one" punch as PW was getting tagged with some good straights before the end came for him. He got back up from his losss against Quintana but that wasn't as devastating as that ko Martinez gave him. Hopefully he comes back from that as I love watching PW fight I'm a fan. It's a bit frustating to see him fight I'll admit because he doesn't use his size & jab enough.
