I'll never know how Vargas kept getting up from those brutal left hook kd's. That last right Tito landed in the 12th round looked bad for Vargas too. Before that fight he fought Wright & Quartey. I wish more guys were like Vargas the fighter(not the trashtalker lol).
Ask Herol Graham. Arguably the best British fighter never to win a world title, and was on his way to doing so until he got caught with this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhVi7cH-LaQ[/ame]
I'd attribute that to the beating he took throughout the fight. Vargas also had physically taxing fights with Wright, Quartey, and later DLH in addition to back injuries.
Yes, just ask Ricky Hatton and Paul Williams. I don't think a fighter can ever be the same after a brutal one punch KO.
Pwilly hasn't fought anyone else yet, but if you are talking about his public perception, yes after his KO there were quite a few threads provoking the glass content of his jaw.
And that's not why I mentioned him. Refer to the first angle the OT mentioned. Abraham KO of Taylor has more or less retired him, (what a shame such a nice guy who had talent)
Trinidad vs Vargas was not one punch, it was 12 rounds of brutality that ended with Vargas being beaten almost defensless by the time the ref waved it off. I dont think that fight qualifies. And even the fight I was going to list has its reasons why it could be excluded. Holt vs Torres 2, the right hand that puts Torres out.... Torres has yet to really 'come back' from. Also, the obvious answer to this is Roy vs Tarver 2, like the threadstarter mentions. So while I dont know if these one punch KO's ruined the career (it def doesnt take away from who they were or what they did before that) I think it goes without question that it heavily, heavily, heavily impacted the rest of their career in a very negative manner.
