can ortiz really win, or is it a formality he won't?

if you were in a pub and a bloke came up to you and head butted you

then the bouncers got in the way and seperated you and you were bleeding from the mouth and very upset

then the bouncers moved and you had a shot at this bloke

    you would say

sorry mate sportsman ship does not allow me to hit you i will just stand here and cop it and wait until you put your hands back up

    Different circumstances.
I sort of answered it above this though (from Whipsy), if it was the same circumstance.

He did look great. The long breaks between his fights has no affect on his skills. Ring rust doesn't affect him in the slightest.

That's what the ref is there for, to reduce or eliminate foul play.
And that's what he did when he deducted a point.

    We'll agree to disagree. :good

ortiz should have SIMPLY just kept fighting.

it is a boxing match, throw punches ffs. that's all the viewrs wanna see.

it did look a little staged though i have to admit. would love to know what was said between them just before the punches from floyd.

As i said, i thought cortezs actions lacked authority, were a bit flimsy and open to interpretation. After saying lets go, he has his arm between the fighters and simultaneously looked away and spoke to an official. Highly probably ortiz took that as cortez not being ready to resume reffing the fight.

He didnt even see floyd throw the left hook, not that it meant anything if he was happy with his commands.

If the Floyd-Pac fight doesn't happen after Pac beats Marquez then it will never happen imo.

tru ortez wasnt on the ball but the ref probably confused him by continuing to talk to the officials shouldnt he be watchin the fight its kinda like a subconscious cue for a fighter to go even though the ref already said it.

soxy i think it was fair enough ortez had already tried a cppl and would be risky for money to sustain more butts like that so he finished him the cheap but legitimate way as revenge. Its debatable if he would of done the same thing had the situation arisen without starting from a headbutt. either way shows how good money is that if u slip up once u gonna pay. he knows the rules wins within them and he never let his guard down.

u gotta love ortiz though he essentially just ruined the fight but he took it well and didnt dog anyone no negativity. seem like he was in a dream, big smile after getting dropped. guess he was just in awe of the big stage.

larry merchants and hbo are dogs. u cant just come up to fighter and bag him out like that, didnt even bother with the regulation sweetener qu's. not to mention the footage of how it ended was the worst angle for floyd and started after the hug pretty much portraying floyd as a ruthless cheater fukin shameful. its the first time i really notice how much unjustified crap money gets.

he looks great, wonder if manny can close the distance.
