Can Oscar dela Hoya Hurt or Knock out Margarito? He"s fought in bigger weight classes and been in with some heavy hitters. And if not does Oscar have the skill AND stamina to outbox Marg? I mean I'm sure we"d all aggree Oscar is more skilled then Marg but could he go 12 rounds with him? How do you guys think the fight would playout?

First of all a very late congrats to Margarito and the entire Mexican nation!!!

I did not think that he was going to be able to eat the type of punches that Cotto landed, but we can't always be right.

Now to answer your question. Oscar will never face Margarito, nor can he out box him at thi stage of the game. Oscar tires late in fights and Margo just get better as the fight goes on. Oscar was unable to really hurt Steve Forbes so there is no way that he will even faze this undistructable man we call "TheTornado" as much as I would love to see Oscar take one last beating he will avoid this man like the plague!!!!

I think punch for punch Santos probably hits harder. And he's also a bigger man. If Margarito was able to walk down Santos, who is 10lbs heavier, I see no reason why he can't do the same to DLH. DLH at 160lbs is flabby. He's not very defined. If I had to guess I'd say physically DLH is a little smaller than Margarito.

Santos and Williams also had to throw a tremendous amount of punches to stay competitive with Margarito. That is not something I envision DLH doing.

I think DLH would try to get the knockout sometime early in the first few rounds. If he couldn't get to Margarito (my guess) then Margarito's 100 punches a round would start to wilt DLH. And by the 7th or 8th round it'd be very obvious. By the 10th the heavy punches would still be hitting DLH and he'd drop. And he'd probably not want to continue. Just a very hard fight, that Cotto went through, that would make DLH give in as well.

Margarito would beat DLH at this point in his career but the welterweight version of DLH that fought Quartey would've won a clear unanimous decision. I don't think DLH would last the distance against the Tornado with the stamina problems he's been having. Plus, DLH is very weak to the body.....bad stamina + weak body + age= Margarito TKO DLH round 10

The Oscar of today wouldn't last as long as Cotto did. Oscar at his very best, like the version that fought Quartey would still be hard pressed to beat Tony..he'd have to try to outbox him like he did Trinidad...for 9 rounds. Could Oscar stay on his toes all 12 rounds to outbox Margarito, who probably doesn't hit quite as hard as Tito did, but was certainly more durable?
It would have been something to see!

The only way I can envision DLH hurting Margarito is if Marg pulls a Mayorga, and allows DLH to load up and hit him flush with 10+ left hooks...Or if Panama Lewis was DLH cornerman for the fight...Black Bottle + no padding in gloves = Margarito ****ed up:yep

At this stage of his career, Oscar couldn't even hurt Forbes. He'd never come close to hurting Margarito.

Oscar can well hurt Margo with a perfect and flash left hook, the sort of punch that Tony doesn't see it coming and loses all the strength in his legs. The flipside of that is that it is doubtful to say the least that Margo would let Oscar set him up for that shot... And in the physical side of things, Oscar might well fight the strategical wise game that he used against Mosley in 2003. But I don't think ODLH has anything left physically to implement such a studious game plan... Look at Oscar against Floyd and against Forbes and tell me what would really happen against Tony. Oscar finds himself trapped on the ropes time and time again and gives up on his stool.

Stay away from Margarito at this point Oscar - or make it at 154.

i think it would be a great fight. all hater talk aside, dlh is still competitive against anyone under 154 and anyone who thinks oscar couldn't hurt margo better go back and look at some of the nuts he's cracked. margo is not hard to find and he has a great chin but 5 or 6 left hooks from oscar can take him into uncharted territory.
my prediction is oscar on points while recieving the worst beating of his life.
