You know Ring mag caters to the customers who actually spend 10 dollars on their magazine. Its why pac is mostly on every cover. Ring isn't the bible for boxing.
i agree with much of your post, but DLH was a ghost when he fought pac and hatton was hardly primed and ready, have to point that out as i feel pac doesnt deserve credit for beating a carcass in dlh other than that good post :good
It's called P4P, and is based on speculation, and not much else. Example; P4P who would win a fight between SRR and Mayweather @ welterweight in their primes? Example 2: P4P who would win a fight between Duran and Paq. @ 140 in their primes? That being said we can ask: P4P who would win in a fight between Paq. and Floyd in the near future, say May 2012, @ 147? Since I now think Floyd will win, but not as a forgone conclusion, I now rank Floyd higher than Pac.
DLH was ghost in both fight!!!! Why do *****s make it like Hoya was primer when Gayweather beat him? Hatton was never a 147 fighter. He was never good at 147.
The bottom line is this is a mythical title/list, and when doing the ratings it's as simple as out of the best fighters active, which is the best 1-10. I think the significant majority would agree it's PBF, to me it's irrelevant who beat who, when they beat them etc, as it pertains to the list itself. Those things are obviously important to forming the opinions of voters, but if it's a list of the best fighters...said list begins with PBF regardless how anyone feels about his personality and out of the ring antics.
I took this into consideration. 1) Mosley, Marg. and Clottey were the last 3 fights and though good victories, were against fighters who's skills and brains are inferior to Marquez and especially Floyd. Since it was announced, Marquez 3 was the fight I was going to use as a barometer to see just far Pac. had come in the last few years from their fight in 2008. All those other guys: Mosley, Marg, Clottey, Cotto, DLH and David Diaz, mentioned @ one time or another that they could not see Pacs. punches coming. That was the key for me. If Marquez could not see punches coming like the others, and did not look washed up at the same time, I would have kept Pac. @ #1. However, though I scored the victory for Pac., Marquez seemed to be aware of what was going on at all times, no surprises, and did a very good job all things considered. Mayweather steps that game up even more, has insane reflexes, and adapts better than anyone else out there. I will be rooting wildly for Pac. if he and Floyd fight but he's got an uphill struggle to come out on top.
Thanks bro... I respect your opinion and how you are open to a different perspective. I do agree that DLH was NOT in "prime" form when PAC faced him. I think DLH most likely would have KO'd PAC had Manny faced the version of DLH who had a classic battle with Shane back in 2000. However....it's been a bit unfair with all the "revisionist of boxing history" when it comes to PAC. No...DLH wasn't the best version we've ever saw....but he was a HUGE favorite going into the fight and he was the bigger man who called out the smaller dynamo who stepped in only after Floyd declined the rematch with DLH. If I recall it was so bad that people were boycotting the fight saying DLH was picking on little guys... I was really surprised the PPV was such a success. I know it's common after EVERY camp for fighters to say "this has been the best camp of my life". DLH spouted those very words before his fight with Manny and those words were echoed by the hall of famed trainer Nacho Berstein. Oscar did look good in the first round where he had good speed...showed a crisp jab and looked to walk PAC down.. Not that he won the round but he didn't look like a ghost. He just looked a bit confused by the puzzle in front of him and he never got any kind of momentum. I saw Oscar quit after 3 against PAC. Ricky may not have been "primed" for PAC....but he had a great technical trainer who worked with him to prepare him for Manny...and even though the camp may not have been the best A LOT of folks were also calling for a Hatton KO. Not many were expecting any kind of dominating performance after seeing how the fight between him and Floyd went down a year before. Yet when Ricky faced Floyd NO one really gave Hatton a shot....they expected the raw brawler from Manchester to get completely dominated like Juan did at the hands of Floyd.
The only way Pac will be truly P4P with know debating behind it, is by beating Mayweather. Many will say well Floyd retired. This is true, but at the same time since he's been back, he's been dominating as if he never left and still have no blemish on his record. His last few fights out he's looked great compare to the other guy. Who struggled heavily with a guy that Floyd completely dominated after a two year lay off. Floyd is still P4P #1 until proven otherwise.
