There was a thread started on here asking if Mayweather could have become a top 15 ATG, so I thought I'd start 1 for Pacquiao. A quick look at the Ring Magazine's 80 greatest boxers of the last 80 years has the top 15 at: 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Henry Armstrong 4. Joe Louis 5. Willie Pep 6. Roberto Duran 7. Benny Leonard 8. Jack Johnson 9. Jack Dempsey 10. Sam Langford 11. Joe Gans 12. Sugar Ray Leonard 13. Harry Greb 14. Rocky Marciano 15. Jimmy Wilde So two questions here. 1) Is Pacquiao, a champion from Flyweight to Light Middle Weight, already a top 15 ATG? 2) If not, what, if anything, can Pacquiao do to break into the list? Personally, I think he is still shy of a top 15 place. But if he beats Mosley (joke fight) and goes on to beat Mayweather, JMM (without any doubt this time), then maybe a win against a Middleweight Champ (Sturm or Martinez) he will break this list. Thoughts?
He doesn't need to fight a middle weight, he just needs to overcome his phobia of drug test and then beat Mayweather and he's a top 15 ATG.
eep, this list has harry greb below leonard so it's a little off but just taking a glance at it, it'd be tough for pac to be rated higher than any of them. however, i think he has (or will have) a case to be rated above wilde and maybe dempsey based on this list
Beating PBF would crack it, barely, IMHO. Mosley, PBF, #1 140, and 154 (Martinez or PWill) would crack top 10. I have him roughly 17-22 depending in my mood.
Whoever voted no, it'll be interested to hear why, no matter what he goes on to do, he still won't crack the top 15.
shut up. If he beats Floyd, I'll put him there, but I look at his resume and I see it is missing too much
If PAC stops Mosley and knocks FLoyd out cold he will be on pair with Durran and Leonard ... top 10 ATG for sure.
ali, greb, langford, pep, armstrong, charles, duran, benny leonard, robinson, and fitzsimmons. 10 fighters that are clearly ahead of pac i have him at 15 or so now. possibly lower but he's got a shot at 10-15. but in there are guys like walker and sugar ray. that's gonna be a tough argument
