After his incredible career he is still going and fights Thurman in a few weeks with a title on the line. If Manny can win then maybe beat a Spence or Crawford and become top dog @ 147, then is he entering the GOAT argument? Unlikely but not impossible he could beat Spence but it would be remarkable at his age. His resume is already ridiculous.
If he beat Spence or Crawford yes but no way he beats Spence at his age. It wouldn't be to far fetched for him to beat crawford though.
He can improve his standing but in honesty no, I don't see anyone over taking Greb or Langford. I mean sure if he's 55 and KOing top rated MWs after making Thurman, Crawford and Spence look like bums but that's not gonna happen
Pac is one of the greats ... but not the GOAT. This resume says hello: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/9019
Not even close, Pac walked away from that when got into politics and became a Senator. Boxing became a hobby to him, not a lifestyle … Not to mention his life went to sh*t along with it …. Glad he got his life back
The pacquiao we have today, the affable smiling Christian family man, is not tbe real pacquiao. We lost that guy a long time ago thanks to Marquez. Jeff Horn was the final nail in the coffin, he no longer has that killer instinct and competitive spirit. I could be eating my words once he fights Thurman. Who knows, crazier comebacks have occurred. Either way, no he'd have to do something crazy like become undisputed at 147 then beat one of the 154 pound champions (no catchweight). Doing that could definitely earn him a top 20 spot considering his age.
He is one of my favorite fighters. I followed his career. He reminds me of my favorite fighter Hearns. They both just wanted to fight , and fight them all … Pac and May traded years back and forth as the #1 and #2 p4p fighter in the world. think it was 4 or 5 years straight .. when Pac got into politics, I cried and never watched him fight again .. I was devastated
Best ever? No An absolute all time great and one of the most entertaining fighters to watch of all time (at least in my eyes) and a credit to the sport? Absolutely.
I think he lost too badly to Mayweather. Going up the weights and fighting at an advanced age is cheapened with the PED use (though still impressive).
I would say that the boundaries are already drawn. One of the all time greats, with some unique features to his resume, but not likely to appreciate much further.
Not the best ever but surely a Top 15 IMO. It would be too big of a feat for him to accomplish given his age but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Those wins would definitely put him a notch further up. His achievements are already astounding and a win over Thurman, Spence, and Crawford would further cement his ATG status.
He's in the running for top 50-100 fighters in history. He could sneak into possibly top 40's with a few more Impressive wins. But the GOAT? No. The sport of boxing has had so many fighters that have faced far better competition, when that competition was still relevant , and when the sport had far less championship belts meaning their was no winning "a portion " of a championship belt, and their was no maneuvering away from the best competition ( see Mayweather Jr.) For any fighter in today's game to possibly be compared to some of the fighters of the past 100yrs. Other than maybe at Heavyweight were sheer size could possibly give a fighter a insormountable size advantage regardless of skill level . ( a possibility though a small one) Pac is and was a very dynamic fighter in his era, and the best fighter of the past 15yts or so (Sorry Mayweather Jr fans) but he's not in the running for GOAT.
