    Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I posted on the classic section. Sorry about that but I just can't keep up with your great knowledges and most of the times I just have nothing to do but to learn and keep silent until the time I can finally respond to a question here. That being said, I keep reading silently very often since it is the only place on ESB where I can really learn something interesting and useful.

    Ok let's do this.
I personally think Manny has the tools to beat Floyd but it's gonna be a long night for him. Fast hands, great combination, natural southpaw, great stamina plus he keeps learning techniques and always train harder than anyone else. Pacquiao is just a much better version of Judah (whom Floyd had trouble early on the fight).
Now, Floyd ain't the same fighter either. He won't allow Manny to take the pace and land his right hook at middle range (which is his best weapon along with the left hand). The only way I can see for Pacman to succeed for this fight is to work on his jab. We all know that to beat Floyd you got to get back to the basis (stick with the jab to stay in the fight, head movement, footwork...) and, the more important, be more active, outpunch the defensive counter puncher to increase the odd of landing some big punches.
At any rate, Roach has a lot of work to do...

Anyway, I just wanted some opinions here. Everything is in the title.
Do you guys think Manny stand a chance against Floyd ? And if yes tell me why.

    Always a pleasure.

i dont think he can beat FMJ i think Marquez has more chance.

I just think FMJ an really keep hi cool box to his game plan and outbox and counterpunch Pac much like JMM to a clear UD

Yes, he can beat Floyd. It is a distinct possibility. Pacquiao's footwork, movement, southpaw stance, the angles and variety of his attack these days, his explosive speed and power, his insane stamina and workrate - these attributes will definitely give Floyd problems. I'm not sure who would win, but I know it would be a very close and exciting contest. Pac is developing and improving at an astonishing rate, and he has Roach's tactical magic touch on his side. Only a fool would write Pacquiao off completely.

its possible but Mayweather has been out of the ring for some time. How good will he be when he comes back against Mar? We will have to wait and see and then make a prediction if Pac and Mayweather ever fight

In some ways he poses a threat but Mayweather is everything that gives Pacquaio problems. JMM proved to have the countering, boxing and defensive skills to win at least 14 out of 24rounds against Pacquaio. Mayweather is better at these skills than Marquez and also bigger and rangier. Plus its unlikely he'll get put down, he's far better defensively, Pac's going to have problems getting his shots off. Although Pac has improved as a boxer allot since the first Marquez fight, where I had him losing 8-9rounds.

Then again Floyd had some problems with another speedy southpaw in Judah and Floyd Sr has always said a southpaw will eventually beat Floyd because his style is open to problems from the southpaw stance. I always think Floyd has been slowing the last few years and 18months out will slow him more

However all in Floyd should really pick Pacquiao apart

Pacquaio likes guys slow footed guys or guys coming right at him as it gives him a change to trade or use his speed to counter punch. Mayweather does not fight this way, he is more of a stick and move out fighter with great speed and accuracy which makes countering nearly impossible. Mayweather is also naturally bigger than Pacquaio. Style wise, Pacquaio is in trouble. If it goes to the cards, I think Maywather is going to win 8 times out of 10.

Mayweather isn't just coming back for the money. He has set the stage to cement his legacy as an un-defeated pound for pound champion. First up is Marquez. Marquez and Pacquaio are shared the ring in two fights, and pretty much weree even. Since Marquez is likely past his best by now, Mayweather should score a clean win over Pacquaio's toughest opponent.

If Mayweather gets past Marquez as expected, then he can face Pacquaio for a high stakes legacy match..If Mayweather wins both matches, it will be tough for the critics to question his career. The nit pickers will point out that Mayweather did not fight Mosely ( I'd pick Mosely 2 years ago ) and never moved up to fight a naturally bigger man in Williams.

    Sure can.

Mayweather has never had the iron will and passion of Pacquiao.

Pacquiao's chin hasn't shown any weakness in recent years, nor has his body. So I'm imagining it's going to go 12, with Mayweather being outwilled and outworked by Pacquiao's higher workrate.

Speed kills as well, and though Pacquiao isn't leagues beyond Mayweather's he has a great combination of power and speed. Judah landed some very, very nice shots against Mayweather including a knockdown. Thing is, Pacquiao isn't going to fold mentally like Judah. He's going to get stronger and stronger.

I see PBF vs Pac kinda a minature Ali vs Frazier FOTC.

Pac would love nothing more than to beat the **** out of Floyd.

Floyd has a good body punch.

    Great defence.

    Speed of hand and foot.

    Great technique.

He should beat Manny , but its boxing, so who knows. I would pick Floyd though. I also picked Hatton.......

youve forgot a man called cotto.

beating smaller men will not prove anything. Unless Pac beats cotto or mosley before he fights floyd

If Pac can switch from 'attacking' to countering he has the speed to win. But Pac would have to show a level of ring smarts that he probably hasn't shown before.
Even though Pac could KO Floyd I don't see it happening. Floyd is always coming to frustrate his opponent.
