Yip totally agree. billy is the best coach iin scotland by a country mile and up there with the best in the UK. didnt look at all in shape to me and didnt seem to have a plan A never mind a plan B just eat that jab all night long. was no movement at all head or feet. Think he was thinking about a possible fight with burns and not the job in hand. needs to get back to basics, get in shape, few warm up fights then get himself back int the domestic mix still has time on his side and hopefully can learn from the defeat.

    What do you mean?

Does Gallagher not train anyone outside of Hatton Promotions?

don't think he can take on any new fighters. Only keep the ones he hasn't got like Macklin and Murray.

    Ahhhh - well, that's a shame.

Not sure Paul wants to move. But I think he needs it.

It depends what his aspirations are.

That really was a woeful performance.

Aye mate better next time if he's a smart guy.
He should leave Edinburgh trainers and go to fighting scots gym.

welll i dont know if he would take him ,im sure billy would be more than happy to comment on that

trust me if there was a stewards enquiry there would be less fav stories about the training and preparation (but that is obv though ) and the lack of peparation amongst other things would be shown ...

Appleby broke the first rule of not taking his opponent seriously and expected an easy night out at Braehead, he even said himself after the fight he never seen any dvd's of his opponent and he looked a mile off the pace and as soon as the first bell went Laryea was all over him and deservedly got the win, feck knows how 1 of the judges could have gave Appleby the win :nono

I second the shout to get him to Billy Nelson........

Paul is a talented young fighter and can come back from this crushing defeat,i think hes been guilty of taking his eye off the opponent in front of him, ricky imo would have been far far to much for Paul and in his heart i think Paul knows that too.Maybe Ricky will fight the African next maybe not,i certainly wont comment on me coaching Paul has hes currently got a trainer in Terry and thats simply not fair to do so. What i will say is he showed great sportsmanship in wishing Ricky all the best in his interveiw with SKY and that speaks volumes for PAUL.

If Ricky Burns fights that guy next it would be a complete joke.

i agree with you. a win over appleby shouldn't get you a shot at a world title. i like ricky burns but he picked evenson as a soft fight and should now get a decent name for his next opponent

Well we all know Ricky wants Fana for the Ring Title next so Ricky isn't looking for any easy fights.

I think Paul could really benefit from a 6 month stint in Derry with John Breen.
He would get sparring with the likes of Paul McCoskey, Andy Murray Stephen Haughian and most importantly he would come back like a fitness machine after spending time with Breen. I think the benefit of working with someone like Breen is that he has worked with people who were not expected to perform and really raised their profile. Appleby would be treated just like everyone else and would be treated harshly but farily. He will accelerate his maturity and take his first comeback fight as if it were the fight of his life. Then he could return back to Scotland or hook up with a new trainer for a more long term relationship. I'm not saying Breen is the man for Appleby permanently - just a 6month stint to take really turn him around.
