Can Pavlik cut it at 168 against the top guns?

    But this is exactly what he plans on doing. It's too soon given his chin and defence. I would give him all the credit in the world for going against Calssler, but only as long as he does it knowing that he has little chance, wanting to fight the best.

    If I started such a thread it would instantly be percieved that I am a JC hater trying to start **** and that's not the case. I'm only defending my man Pavlik in here.:lol: There are few great boxers who can jump up from their weight class and still kick all the ass, and they are the names you find on the top 10 p4p lists. IMO, these threads calling Pavlik to higher weight classes against the heavier champions are only an attempt to belittle Pavlik's accomplishments. He's only 25 and has only in his last fight became champion, so what's the damn hurry to derail him?

    You are dead wrong here, at least where I am concerned. No one is belittling Pavlik's accomplishments when they say that going up in weight against the best opposition at this stage of his career would be a step too far! It's just how some people (Pavlik fans too, like me, for example!:yep ) perceive it, realistically. I think Pavlik should fight at least another 3-4 defences against the best out there at MW before thinking of moving up. This would provide him with sufficient time to work on his defence and to develop more.

    I should have been more clear because you have complemented Pavlik in this thread, and to be honest I really feel he should stay at middle for a few more fights. He, I don't think, is ready for Joe and Kessler. I have not heard one word from him or his camp saying he was though, only Joe trying to call him out.

    Am I the only one here who doesn't think the big punchers at 168 hit significantly harder than the big punchers at 160? I mean, the biggest punchers at 160 were Berrio, Zuniga and Miranda, two of whom he faced, and after the first two moved up, they basically became 2 of the 3 or 4 biggest punchers at 168. Pavlik himself would be a top 5 puncher at 168. I don't think he punches any lighter than Froch or Green, and I think he punches significantly harder than Bute.

    Could Andrade do anything to Pavlik that Zuniga couldn't? I doubt it.

    If you were talking about Pavlik moving up to 175, I'd be skeptical, but I think he could handle 168 just fine.

    He should tell Joe to **** off and to fight Bute or Dawson instead! And he should continue fighting at MW for a while, against the best out there. :D

    Now we definately agree 100% brother.:good I think he should tell Joe to **** off!

    This is the root of what I've been trying to get at all along, that Joe should be calling out Dawson, Bute, hell even Diaconu before calling out a guy fighting in MW that has not ran his mouth about coming up and doing anything.

    Seriously, though, just because he punches harder than Bute doesn't mean he would punch as hard as Froch or Green. And he WOULD NOT KO Andrade...:-( And who are Froch and Green anyway? They wouldn't go against Joe, would they?

    Of course he cannot.

    Nearly getting KOed by Jermain Taylor is uninspiring to say the least. It's unlikely he'd even be a top 5 at 168.

    Pavlik shouldn't even feel he has anything to prove at 168 yet. Was the first thing Calzaghe or Kessler did after they became Champ at 168 to go up to fight the undisputed Champ at 175? Of course not. Why should Pavlik? It's crazy! Unless he wants to show how much of a man he is, fighting the best at a higher weight even before he is ready to attempt it. That is youthfull enthusiasm though! Hope he doesn't fall for this trick of wily old Joe.

    Fight won't happen, I don't even know why it's being discussed. He's not stepping in there with the supernatural.

    The only reason it'd have significance is Undisputed MW vs. Undisputed SMW, that's it.

    That's right! It won't happen. But let us give some credit to Joe here - he is not really trying to have Pavlik on - he is simply hyping his own fight with Kessler to an American audience:deal : "Come and see the man who might fight your hero, Pavlik, next!" And that is just good business!:yep

    Pavlik would get knocked out by all the champs at 168 (assuming Bute beats Berrio). Mundine could also knock him out, but if not he'd win a comfortably UD.

    The 168 division is just that full of talent at the moment.
