After that Hopkins lopsided loss can Pavlik hit the mark against this speedster (we all know that Hopkins made Pavlik miss, a lot)? Yeah, it's been posted before but let's freshen' it up a little. I like Pavlik a lot but it's been tough being Kelly latley. Oh, and does Matrinez's age mean anything to you guys/girls (35)? And rip the crap out of my latest blog if you dare!!!! Or don't... http://www.kidsringsideseats.blogspot.com/
Pavlik can certainly hit the mark, if he can avoid getting hit too much (by no means a certainty). At 35, Martinez has stamina issues late. Pavlik does not. His workrate doesn't diminish. He's got to follow the Williams blueprint and continuously apply pressure and exhaust Martinez. Then he can utilize his size and strength and take him out late. Also, Martinez is a JMW. Pavlik is a full-fledged MW and probably even a SMW. He will have every advantage except speed and boxing skill, so he should have no excuse for not putting in a dominant performance. Pavlik by late tko.
I think Martinez is all wrong for Pavilk, uless he really wears down enough in the late rounds to be KOd. Otherwise, I don't see the fight being that much different froim the Williams fight. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Kelly out on a KO show, but I have a feeling that the slippery southpaw will make him dizzy.
Martinez tends to slow down after a few good rounds, maybe to preserve some energy. His very active style is filled with many redundant movements but that makes him very ellusive isn't it? I don't think he should preserve energy 'cause as a cyclist and soccer player his stamina should be good to hop arround for the full 12...
As soon as they announced the fight Martinez predicted a KO in 8-10 rounds. More recently Martinez and his trainer both predicted an "early knock out." In the final presser yesterday Martinez said he'll go to war with KP. Do the math.
