Can Pavlik win a 12 round boxing match against Calzaghe or will he have to KO Joe?

Yes I don't see calzaghe having the power to slow pavlik down, however I don't think Joe cant take kelly's punches the entire fight he will have to run and dodge so much his output could go down enough for kelly to win on points.

:think Very interesting. TBH, I would have never thought he'd win a UD over Taylor either. I assumed Pav by KO or Taylor UD would be the 2 scenarios.

 

Joe is a very good boxer, and more importanly he's a point scorer. he style impresses the judges but for kelly to win a UD he needs to knock JC down at least once. Although kelly hits very hard u cant say for sure that he will even catch joe hard enough to KO or floor him.

SO i feel kellys best chance is to try n KO him. keeping in mind JT survived until the final bell in the rematch.

 

joe doesn't have the best defense, if you watch his fight with hopkins he gets hit easily by hopkins. Hopkins has a low workrate and hugs a lot, and joe's hand were not mostly up. I say pavlik can hit him and perhaps hurt him but i don't think he outboxes calzaghe.

All depends on where it happens. If Kelly must travel to Wales & he KO's him there in front of 50,000 JC fans...

The KO is minimal probability, but its his only chance. He won't catch him with the timing that Hopkins did, I can't see him landing such a sneaky angled punch. Not that it really hurt Calzaghe anyway...

That's a flawed bit of logic that gets thrown around as justification for a Pavlik KO

 

I think he can definitely win a decision. He throws almost as many or as many punches as Calzaghe, with the difference being that his punches are ACTUAL PUNCHES!!
And so, i believe he can win a UD by landing the cleaner, more effective and more eye-catching shots.

 

lets not forget, calzaghe doesn't have the best defense there is..

 

If in Wales, theres no other way to win but to KO him. If in the garden--I think he could win by decision but no way it goes 12 rounds. Cal has never felt the hardness of a punch that Pavlik throws. Bronco McKart sums it up best when he said, "Kelly hits harder than anyone Ive ever fought"
