Can Pavlik win a 12 round boxing match against Calzaghe or will he have to KO Joe?

Another good post by Sthomas. All debate aside; Joe is past his best, and we have not yet seen Pavlik at his best. I think he is still a few fights away from peaking. It's to bad we'll never see these two go at it head to head, prime for prime.

If Pav bounces JoeCal off the canvas a couple of times he can win on points.

I think he has to stop him. Joe has better boxing skills and agility than pavlik imo.

Thank you. Agree about the "peak" comment. Joe and hindsight shows that he's on the downhill slope a bit, hopefully not as much as some people think. We still get to wait to see where Pav. peaks, hopefully it wasn't against Lockett :D . These are two of my favorite fighters right now so I just want to see a great performance by both, not tainted by the old, "If the fight took place in the year 20**... it would be a different story." Nice Lopez Avatar, he's the man (& Matthew Saad) who really got me hooked on boxing way back when.

He can't outbox Joe for 12 rounds a TKO or KO is his only hope.

put it this way if joe movement offers pavlik little opportunity to land big shots what other game plan has pavlik shown us in his pro career that he can adapt and beat joe? i just think advantage and its a KEY advantage is that joe has faught styles like pavlik before and won. who has pavlik faught like a joe calzaghe???

joe to win has to show LOTs of movement and not get careless for the whole fight. pavlik i think will have to just hope constant pressure will open up a opening so he can throw hard shots hoping to slow/stop joe.
i see this similar to the kessler fight except i see it more closer maybe SD to calzaghe

That may actually prove to be the keys to the kingdom. One 10-8 round can be hard to overcome, two is -- well -- 4 points!
