Too "green" or "inexperienced" as a fighter when he fought Floyd. HE HAD 40+ PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS WHEN HE FOUGHT MAYWEATHER!!! Almost as many as Floyd had at the time and the kid was unbeaten and supposedly one of 3 boogeymen that Floyd was afraid of. I know it's beating a dead horse but cmon no other fighter would be called "too green" with 40+ professional fights. It not like he was Chris algeri or Jeff horn or even Conor mcgregor, where that argument can be valid. Point is a good boxer got beat up by a great boxer. End of story end of rant. (Sorry I was just debating this with one of my Boys and I thought I'd share

It's true. They don't say that about Marquez, and he was also blanked.

I think the difference between JMM and Alvarez was apparent. Juan moved up 2 weight classes to fight Floyd and had already faced a slew of champions and p4p fighters. Alvarez was considered green based on his actual age and lack of facing the kind of elite level opposition JMM had built a career on. Alvarez was established as a Jr middleweight and was by far the bigger man when he faced Floyd. Juan was by far the smaller man when he faced Mayweather

Canelo definitely hadn't got his man strength or hit his prime when he fought Mayweather. Its quite obvious as Mayweather actually fought him ! There has to be a confidence boost for most his fights...Business first !

I can't think of any green fighters with multiple titles.

You should change the title of the thread to ''Can people please stop telling the truth about Canelo being''

Yeah sorry but Canelo is a way better fighter now than he was then. And his supplementation was a tad different in this last fight than it was for Captain iv as well.

Before facing Floyd his best opponents were Trout, a worn out old Sugar Shane, a worn out old Baldomir, a worn out old Cintron and a worn out old Gomez. The only genuine riddle of the bunch was Trout, who he arguably lost to. The rest were tin cans or decent journeymen that usually lose to moderately skilled fighters. Nothing he faced except for Trout truly prpared him for Floyd, and even then Trout was a southpaw, so he wasn't the best dry run either, the fact is, no one he faced prepared him to deal with the defense, speed, versatility, accuracy, elusiveness of Mayweather, and Floyd knew that, so he intelligently pushed for the fight, because he knew he should strike while the iron was hot, or you could say when Canelo was too green to beat him, after the Trout match it was very apparent he wasn't ready for such a massive step up in competition to anyone with a brain in their head. Also he was 23.

After facing Floyd, his opponents have been Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, all of whom still had something left, are very tricky customers and they forced him to up his game and 4 punching bags in Smith, Chavez Jr., Kirkland and Angulo, who he was able to try some things on, hone his counter punching and defense with. Then of course you do have to add in the fact that he had a match with FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Austin Trout under his belt. So yeah an argument can be made he was too green and inexperienced at the time he faced Floyd, but 100% was ready, experienced and not green for the Golovkin fight.

Sidenote: where the hell have all the old copies of the Canelo-Miguel Vazquez match disappeared to? Hmmm?

Canelo had already beaten a slick world class fighter when he fought Trout. He followed the Floyd fight by beating another slick world class fighter in Lara. Those fights were competitive and he stopped fighting guys like that after Lara. Canelo has shown absolutely nothing that proves he is now capable of dominating a slick world class fighter.

How do you arguably lose a fight with open scoring?

Its fairly easy when the scores were already written down before the fight started.

Trout knew the scores early on and did nothing to change the direction of the fight. It was a competitive win for Canelo.
