Well said. The number of fights doesn't necessarily determine just how experienced a fighter is.

No, he did do something, he fought his heart out and won many of the later rounds, but it didn't really matter did it?

He's fought a bunch of Mexican cactus farmers and Trout, he lacked experience at high level fights and he was drained.

The too green argument is a weak as one can get. Canelo was ready for lol fmj, no excuses. Saying this, fmj did A NOT simply "beat canelo up"

It was 2 great fighters with fmj pulling away (out scoring canelo) but that was a very competitive fight with canelo landing clean shots fmj was not able to slip.

One thing it did do was made canelo more of a beast. Hee took lots of fmj fight Game and perfectly implemented it into his.

No matter what, trolls gonna troll

This. Canelo was 42-0-1 and had been a pro almost 10 years at the time. Not to mention he was the reigning unified WBC/WBA champ at 154 when he fought Floyd. If anything he was a seasoned vet when he fought Floyd.

Typically those who have called Canelo "green" when he fought Floyd is a counter point to the fight being fought at a catchweight. (152 lbs)

It has been said that Canelo was either drained or green or both when he fought Floyd. I think in this case the two can be easily confused becuase the draining wasn't seen as that dramatic since "it was only two pounds" and since Canelo was so young (in age) the feeling was that Canelo wouldn't have that much difficulty making 152.

When you look at the age differential, the much younger fighter, despite having over 40 bouts on his record, could be seen as green. Yes he was experienced with a lot of fights, but still at a young age seen as not with the experience needed to actually beat Floyd. Saying he was green really was just a way to describe him as "not being ready" to fight Floyd yet, that despite his extensive pro career, hasn't really had the "major high level Vegas fight" experience yet.

Of course Canelo said he was born ready but making 152 may have translated to him looking green at times during the fight like when Floyd had his best moments for example. I'd say he was slightly green and slightly drained from the catchweight, but he definitely had the skills and the tools needed to give Floyd problems. I just thought that it took away from Floyd’s win the fact that he needed the catchweight. And the fact that Canelo still managed to give Floyd a very difficult fight. I came out of that fight thinking that Canelo was the future of boxing and Floyd was on his way out. Floyd said after the fight that Canelo was the future of boxing. Canelo put up with all Floyd’s advantages and still gave Floyd more problems than pretty much anybody else had. The feints alone were unbelievable. Canelo easily set the record for most times getting Floyd to bite on feints in a fight. I never seen Floyd so rattled as he was in those early rounds.

Yeah real competitive, Canelo it could be argued didn't win a round. If you're generous, won two, maybe three, stretch reality to the absolute breaking point won 4.

Then shouldn't the promoter and managers be the ones to blame really if they kept putting him in with these no names and then think he could take FMJ

Canelo was 23 had fought mostly cans and was roughly 90% of prime when he met Mayweather. He was green so Mayweather can't get full credit for beating him. Likewise, Canelo is 100% and prime right now, but Golovkin is at 90% and past prime. Age, condition, and experience need to be taken into account when dolling out credit.

It's probably worth noting that Floyd was post prime and maybe 90% what he once was when he fought a green 90% Canelo; so maybe that should even things out.

What proof do u have of this? He still only fights hard for one min of every round. Gasses early. Can't get away from someone who can properly cut off the ring. The only thing I can say he improved in was his defense

Anotherwords, you saw about 4 rounds that Canelo did well enough that he may have edged them, but it's splitting hairs. That's the kind of fight it was, you had a number of very close rounds. I had Canelo winning 2,3,4,10 and possibly 12. 2 I thought was a toss up round, 3, 4 and 10 I thought were pretty clear Canelo rounds and 12 was sort of a toss up as well, but Canelo landed a hard jab and a nice right hand toward the end of the 12th. There wasn't much action in 12 though, and Floyd got booed for stalling, so it's hard to give that round to Floyd. Floyd typically doesn't lose too many rounds, so it's no surprise that a lot of people are inclined to give close rounds to Floyd. But scoring it objectively, look at 2,3,4,10 and 12 and ask yourself who won those rounds. It's really a stretch to give those rounds to Floyd. Even Round 5, a round I scored for Floyd, was very close as well.

    That’s not Mayweathers fault though...

But I will say that maybe he was a little drained at 152 though.
