Don't try and kid to us that Floyd was being generous with the 152 C-W.

    An outstanding post.

Floyd should never have demanded the C-W, and it took the shine off of the win.

He should have let Canelo weigh-in at 154, and he'd have received huge credit for the win.

He's never been overly agressive, but in my opinion, he seemed scared of getting countered against Floyd.

I think this current version of him would never have stood back from him in the same manner.

Especially when one considers his multiple fights (And titles won) at 154 prior. It was a cheap way to get an easy advantage over Canelo. The P4P best fighter REALLY needs all those advantages against green or smaller opponents I guess!

I agreed with the last paragraph, but unlike Oscar and Maidana, Canelo had better skills and more upper body movement. So while he didn’t land on Floyd like Oscar and Maidana did, Floyd didn’t land on Canelo as much as he did vs Oscar or Maidana. Canelo was content to outbox Floyd for 12 rounds rather than be over-aggressive. This is what made it such an even matchup. DLH may have been awarded rounds on aggression, but Oscar never really landed any big clean effective punches on Floyd like Canelo did.

In Round 10 Canelo did open up with Floyd on the ropes which was one of his best moments. Unlike DLH’s aggression vs Floyd, when Canelo was aggressive, he was much more effective landing punches on Floyd. Canelo made Floyd miss more than Maidana and DLH did. A lot of people think that the only way you can beat Floyd is with relentless aggression. But Canelo came close to beating Floyd by beating him at his own game. I’d also like the point out that Floyd was very timid vs Canelo as well. In fact, he bit on an incredible number of feints, which shows that Canelo was more comfortable than Floyd was especially early on.

Floyd though made some adjustments in the middle rounds and started landing some quality punches on Canelo, but as far as who was more timid, that’s really debatable. Four years ago Canelo came up just short of beating Floyd, now Canelo has gotten even better and Floyd has gotten older.

No champion should be able to dictate that an opponent has to weigh-in at a certain weight.

Great post. But the opportunity was there earlier in the fight for Canelo to fight like he did in the 10th round.

I've not seen it for a long time though. I may go and rewatch it.

Please stop saying anything than can be the least bit interpreted as negative toward Floyd. He walks on water in my narrow World and anything short praise offends my fragile sensibilities.

The trout fight was very close but that knocked down made the difference, similar to GG vs Jacobs

he would have, but Floyd's fights at 154 were all against blown-up welters, and he clearly lost a lot of movement in those fight. he had reached his limit and he knew it.

my first thought was Canelo sitting in a car with Denzel Washington saying: 'I'm a professional. I'm a professional.'

Trout, who had a win over Cotto and was the WBA champ at 154.

Miguel Vasquez, who put up a good fight against T. Bradley and would go on to hold the IBF lightweight title for years.

Matthew Hatton, a good national level fighter.

Kermit Cintron, fought Sergio Martinez to a draw and a former IBF champ at 147.

Shane Mosley, has fought everyone from Oscar to Winky Wright. A champ in three weight classes.

Josesito Lopez, broke Victor Ortiz's jaw.

That's hilarious coming from a fangirl like you who basically sounds like a delirious drugged up cheerleader whenever someone you're a fan of is being discussed. Quite frankly you sound like a straight up loon sometimes. I know I can be biased and stubbornly root heavily against certain fighters, usually with my tongue in my cheek, you however are completely serious.

Yeah, I can say that the Mayweather-Canelo match was uncompetitive. Most rational fans would agree with me, never at any point was Floyd is danger of losing control, Canelo never came close to turning the tides, Canelo kept a few rounds close early and Floyd pulled away as the fight progressed, sure Canelo landed an odd shot here and there, but let's be honest, he didn't do nearly as well as ancient Cotto did against Floyd or Maidana and for that matter Pacquiao. He was too green to be facing a master boxer of Floyd's caliber.

    He dominated Canelo. Case closed.
