he outclassed him in the first fight, williams couldn't adapt to the awkward slick southpaw style, he got battered and bruised over twelve brutal rounds.

even the rematch, he knew he couldn't box him so he came out swinging, an managed to catch him.

the martinez fight will be a huge problem for him.

if he loses his p4p status goes, if he wins? so wat, he won't have a belt, people will still duck him.

That was a close fight, the 1st one. Could of gone either way. He came back strong and made a statement in the 2nd one. I got Sergio in this one, but, I hope he proves me wrong.

Most people seem to think that the first fight with Quintana was the fluke and not the second. My repsonse usually is, "a 12 round boxing lesson is usually not a fluke, but a one punch knock out almost always is."

I agree with your post entirely, this was a stupid fight for Dan Goosen to take. Too much risk for little reward. Sergio's belt isn't on the line. If P Will had problems with Quintana, he is going to be in a heap of it next Saturday.

exactly, if he couldnt handle quintana's style, he'll have a helluva job against martinez. he wasn't ever able to adapt in the first fight, in the second he just went for the ko an managed to hit him.

i dnt see wat he'll have to gain from this fight.

Williams was off that night and lost. A focused Williams put a demolition job on Carlos in 1 round. If they fought again Williams would KO him again. Williams has improved vastly since then. Williams will also beat Martinez who will be overwhelmed by Williams.

the question isn't if he can ko him, could he ever outbox quintana? it was never answered in the rematch cos of how early it finished. martinez is a lot stronger and won't be blown away, he'll have to use his boxing skills, they failed him against quintana, and they'll fail him again in 11 days

Martinez isn't that good he barely got by a cry baby in Cintron. Williams' win over Winky and Margo **** over anything he's done in his career. Williams would shut Cintron out easily.

Well, he'll gain the respect of the intellegent boxing community...those of us who recognize this as a serious fight.

it almost reminds of the Cotto/Abdulaev fight at 140. No one outside of boxing die hards really knew how tough and accomplished Abdullaev was and how impressive the Cotto victory was.

If P Will struggles or loses, I don't think his status wish diminish greatly. At least it shouldn't.

Martinez has a very good chin. Quintana I would say has an average chin as proved by Cotto and Williams. I dont see Martinez folding from one punch.

If Williams does not KO Martinez, than PTP could be in for a very long night. Martinez poses similar problems, and is much quicker than Quintana. PTP will have to keep his workrate through the roof!

I guess some people didn't watch the Cintron fight. Martinez should have been rewarded a 7th round knockout victory. That was the worst ref in the history of boxing.

Matrinez beat Cintron twice in one fight. I bet Williams couldn't do that!

I'll say this, Martinez was the backup plan all along. He is the guy they specifically wanted to fight in the event that Pavlik pulled out of the fight. I'll also add that the fight is at 160 because Martinez did not want to put his belt on the line. Take what you want from that, but it seems one party is more confident in a victory than the other. Time will of course tell on this one.

    Something else...when did 115-113 become a schooling?:lol::rofl

Gotta love the **** poor logic on ESB...I'm loving it!:rofl

I don't know if that loss matters, he could have learned how to fight slick southpaws better for all we know. I've still got a Martinez UD though, hopefully he isn't robbed again.
