Golovkin is good but these two are very special (Ray my idol), so I don't think I can put him in there right now when his best win is over Martin Murray.
Honestly I think that he could. That's not the same as saying that he WOULD, however. Hagler and Leonard are both very difficult opponents in different ways and he's never fought anybody quite like them.
Hagler fighting him like he fought Hearns would be very problematic for Golovkin in my opinion. GGG looks at his best when he has space to work in and can dictate the action. IMHO a fighter has to have a great chin, determination, power and be willing to get right into his face and push him back for the win. Hearns fight Hagler had all that.
No point in comparing a lightweight with a middleweight......so forget about Duran. Even srl was only a welterweight. Only really valid comparison was hagler. Now, name who on haglers record compares to GGG? Hmmmmm?
The beast maybe? It's tough to make a case for GGG when his career is still ascending and to date his best win is Murray.
Lots of fighter on Hagler resume compares to GGG! All of those fighter then were real middle weights, in a very deep talent pool. There were no short of fighter with punching power, there was not short of fighters with experience, there where no short of fighter that could go 15 rounds, and there certainly was no short of fighter with skills.. To say GGG would be a undefeated fighter in the 70 and 80 is laughable !! These where world Class fighters, most of the fighter that GGG has fought are local circuit and have very little world class experience.
LOL people comparing GGG to Hagler is fking blasphemy, and pure ignorance. The MW's in the 90's would have easily ran through anyone GGG has fought. McClelan, Williams, Toney, Roy Jones, McCallum, hell even guys like Eubank, Benn, and collins would have went undefeated against his opposition. Not saying all these guys beat GGG, though Roy Jones and Toney would be EASY ass pick
