i think bringing up something weird because i have never heard of anyone being killed by a punch to the heart, but could it have damaging consequences?

i have seen in movies where they hit someone's chest to try and revive a persons heart, could you stop or alter the beat of someone heart by hitting it?

Granted this article is about a little boy and a totally different sport, but he got struck in the heart by a football and the trauma caused him to have a heart attack and die. It's rare, but it happens so I don't see why it isn't possible if some freak accident like this occurred in boxing.

I think they took Sly Stallone to the hospital after getting hit in the chest by Dolph Lungren, filming Rocky four. His heart was ...displaced or something? And that's not even an actual fight. Two actors pulling their punches in choreography trying not to hurt each other. I'm sure a fighter could kill someone.

It is beyond ridiculous how stupid you really are . Please stop posting your Dr Pepper analysis.

    A. You are talking about a Rocky Movie???
    B. Heart displacement???? Only happens in major surgery.

The question mark was because I didn't remember what was said about the injury. I'm not a doctor and don't claim to be. I'm pointing out that something serious took place only by accident on a movie set, therefore in a real fight...you know what, I don't need to address anything to someone of your caliber of ****yness. :hi:

Not what I remember reading years ago at all but his version from this year, the quote:

“It’s just stupid,” Stallone admitted about the incident. “I said to Dolph, ‘Punch me as hard as you can in the chest,’ and he did. Next thing I know, I was in Intensive Care at St. John’s Hospital for four days. It’s stupid!”

So, I guess he wasn't pulling that punch and Sly didn't elaborate on exactly what the injury was there. I'll try and find another reference.

Edit: Story must change every time he tells it.

Stallone quoted in 2006: "So I said to Dolph, “We practiced one thing, [but] let’s just go at it for the first 15 seconds. I want you to try to knock me out. Just bomb away.” Well, he did. And he gets me in the corner, and he’s bombing away, and I’m tryin’ to slip the punches and then he comes with this uppercut in my chest, and I went: That hurt. Okay. Cut. Let’s finish the rest of the day. That night, I felt this thumping. It was hard to breathe. I went to the emergency room. My blood pressure was like 290, and they put me on a low-level flight to St. John’s Hospital where I was put into intensive care because the pericardial sac around my heart was swelling and impeding the beating of my heart. I was there, like I said, for nine days surrounded by nuns. Not good. And Lloyd’s of London said, “Ah, we believe he’s faking it. This accident is not in keeping with boxing. Usually this kind of pericardial swelling is the result of head on collisions, when the steering wheel hits you in the chest.” I said, “Well, have you seen Dolph Lundgren? That’s a truck. That’s a steering wheel. That’s a head on collision.” So they took the film and broke it down frame by frame. They honored the insurance claim."

    Edit: Here he says:

"That night my chest and heart started to swell, and I had to be helicopter-ambulanced from my hotel to a nearby emergency room. I was told that Dolph had punched my rib cage into my chest, compressing my heart. If it had swollen any more, I would have died."

    IMBD slightly different:

"When shooting the film, Sylvester Stallone decided that for the shooting of the fight, he and Dolph Lundgren should hit one another for real, so as to increase the intensity of the scene. After doing three takes of Rocky taking shots to ribs, Stallone felt a burning in his chest, but ignored it. Later that night, he had difficulty breathing and was taken to a nearby emergency room. It was discovered that his blood pressure was over 200, and he had to be flown on a low-altitude flight from Canada to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, where he remained in intensive care for eight days. What had happened was that Lungren had punched him so hard in the chest, Stallone's heart had slammed up against his breastbone and began to swell, cutting off the blood supply and restricting the oxygen flow throughout the body."

Alex Gdovin died from a punch to the chest that stopped his heart in a boxing match. Although the OMI itself had training camps, and San Francisco was becoming a hotbed for prize fights, many matches were staged just across the city line. San Mateo County's law enforcement was more inclined to turn a blind eye to the gambling that accompanied the blood sport, and the fight in rural Colma in which Alex Gdovin lost his life was unlicensed. When he fell at the end of the third round and was found dead by his seconds, the crowd of some 200 spectators "scattered in every direction".

A Bronx engineering student who died while boxing with a pal in an upstate college dorm reportedly was killed by a blow to the chest.

Anders Uwadinobi's died from a heart arrhythmia caused by a blunt force to his chest, according to Binghamton TV station WBNG.

Uwadinobi, 18, collapsed on Sunday during a "friendly" sparring match with a schoolmate in a dorm suite at SUNY Binghamton, officials said.

A school spokeswoman could not confirm the TV report, and the medical examiner and district attorney could not immediately be reached.

But Uwadinobi's heartbroken father, Ukachi, insisted his son "had no medical problems," and was just having fun.

And save for the last line, the feel-good story of the year:

Moscow, Aug 18 (IANS) A Russian man, who was allegedly trying to molest a 15-year-old schoolgirl in a park, died after he was punched by the girl on the chest.

The man from Astrakhan region died from a single blow on the chest from the girl, who was a trained boxer, Moscow News reported citing police.

Police said the girl could face up to five years in jail or a correction facility.
