Rafa Marquez is fighting Toshiaki Nishioka on the 1st of October. He has a tough fight on his hands but if he wins he has plenty of options: Arce; VWII; Montiel...

Rafa vs Arce would be a war!!! I'm glad he refused to face Gamboa bc they are at different stages of their career. Gamboa got way too much speed it wouldn't even be fair at this point.

    Toughts??

Maybe not the king, but he could establish himself as one of the top fighters again. If he beat Salido (which would be an awesome technical war), re-matched Juanma Lopez and beat him (as he was close to doing last time), and gave Gamboa a run for his money, it would be great for his legacy.

Rafa vs Rigunodeux would be a great match up. Right now Id have to go with gueirmo to win it though. Rafeal is a hell of a fighter though and I want to see what he has left in him.

NOT king no but he can still be a force to be reckoned with in the top of the division.
great fighter, and we'll see where he's at after nishioka.
personally i think he beats nishioka in a very close contest.

he's done as a top boxer all he's doing is trying to hold on and make a few more more big fights for the payday before retiring hopefully he wont stick around too long and end up in a state that he cant enjoy the rest of his life and the money he made

He has some good fight left in the tank, I expect him to take out Nishioka but don't see him beating Rigondeaux

King probably not, but he might still be able to have one more great fight in him. 122 he should do better.

Beating Nishioka would put him right up there but that's easier said than done. He'd beat Arcé, I'm sure of that, and there are some other big fights for him if he gets past Nishioka.

He's past his best but he's not shot and he still packs real ko power. I hope he pulls it off.

He can definitely win this fight I feel, Nishioka's good but not unbeatable. He can't be as aggressive as the Lopez fight I feel because though that saw him find some success, he was getting picked off by Juanma and Nishioka is better suited to that type of fighting than Lopez so that should be avoided.

He is still an excellent boxer and combination puncher. His counter punching is still effective so fighting this one at range is advisable because Nishioka thrives on letting blistering combos go on the inside a.l.a Pacquiao. However, he reaches in sometimes and this could be his undoing if Rafa is as accurate as he used to be.

I definitely feel he has a chance, providing he hasn't aged too much. Really hope he does it too because he's a warrior and is never in a bad fight. Vamos Rafa :happy
