This may sound like a silly question, but in wake of hearing how terrible Joe Cortez was in the Mayweather-Hatton fight according to some people, saying that he should quit, has got me thinking about it. Can a ref have a prime, a peak, and a decline?
Yeah, i think so Jay Nady used to be top dog a while ago, then after a contriversial stoppage he never featured in any match ups, not even undercards. Haven't seen him ref since
He was assigned the Marquez/Barrera fight and made a big mistake in that one. I believe he was the ref for the Ronald Hearns fight last night.
He did a good job last night. Hearns knocked Astorga down in the 8th, but Astorga got up and wanted to continue. Nady made a good decision and stopped it because he was taking too much punishment. In the Marquez/Barrera fight, Barrera knocked Marquez down with a right hand, but Nady ruled it as a slip, and penalized Barrera one point for hitting him while he was down.
Cool, I missed that fight, I'll have to watch it Yeah I remember Marquez Barrera, I remember screaming at the TV when he decucted one point, and I'm not even a Barrera fan !:good
Everybody has a prime refs, grocery baggers, hell even the posters on ESB, by the way I am no where near my prime yet
I hope they keep getting better. Cortez has always been good, Tony Weeks has always be very good, Jay Nady has alwasy been horrible and Cappuccino has always been very horrible. Pretty consistent.
