This lad is clearly a world class operator and has been for some time. His performance against Martinez was fantastic yet was over looked by most who claimed he would lose what he battled so bravely for as soon as his first defence.
Last night he was wrote off by 90% of the sports followers claiming Katsidis would walk through him but he proved what some of us have believed all along.
Being a Glasgow boy I would like to say Ricky done our nation and himself proud last night and it’s about time folk gave the boy the credit he’s due!

    Well done Ricky!

I'd rather have seen him fight Broner.

Murray is made for Burns, a bit like Katsidis in that he is a come forward animal but not as good offensively or even defensively as Katsidis. Mitchell vs Burns would be a good fight but there is little chance of a stoppage there since both guys aren't bangers. Unfortunately, I don't see Guerrero coming back down to 135 though.

I would like to see Frank W have Burns fight outside of the UK though. It would be good to see him on the undercard of a decent US show and get Burns a bit more exposure outside of the UK.

Hopefully he'll start to get more exposure now. A good fight on a US undercard could be a step in the right direction. I think he'll be matched with someone like Mitchell first.

He deserves an opportunity against one of the top Lightweights - maybe Rios after he destroys Murray.

He'll fight Mitchell next, both guys are under Frank so it's an easy fight to make. Burns should decision him fairly comfortably and then step him up against the top guys.

He richly deserves a great deal of credit.Good shout about Mitchell too.The way it's going only knocking Marquez out for the full WBO belt will afford him the respect he deserves.Nobody is claiming Ricky is a P4P,HOF first ballot. This is a guy whose career had badly stalled only three years ago. He's not elite but he's answered every question asked of him since winning his first title and has proved he performs better when the opponent is a live challenge.I hope he gets big paydays and while I admit he's not going to give the Marquez' and Guerreros a great deal of sleepless nights,he's doing a lot better than some British fighters who get far more exposure and praise.Go on yersel,Ricky boy.:good

I thought he put in a very good showing last night, the team came up with a solid but not water tight game plan. He was probably spending a little too long on the ropes and letting Kats fire off, but that guard remained for the most part strong and those elbows where dug in to protect the slats. Too bad he does quite have that pop on his punches.

Kats isn't quite the physical force he was and he does look like hes labouring his craft a bit more, rather than the aggression coming out naturally. He was way too hesitant at times last night which allowed Burns to slip away without any challenge.
