Upsets happen. Styles make fight. Are we in front of a such a possibility here or is Canelo still the man ? I think Canelo lost to Bivol in a fight that was not tight despite what the scores suggest. Bivol schooled Canelo. I think the 40 years old GGG gave a fair competition and perhaps even won against Canelo. After realizing how the crowd and commentators tricked my perceptions, I saw GGG controlled most of the fight patiently with his jabs. Canelo is now past his prime no doubt. What do you think of Ryder? Can he delivers one of the biggest upset in boxing or no ? Is it wise to bet against the 9 to 1 odds favoring Canelo ?
First fight after an injury break and Alvarez had a competitive fight with Old Man Golovkin (I saw it as 7-5 either way or a draw.) Granted he might come back rejuvenated after recovery.
I know one very prominent forum member here won't like my post. I'm a Ryder fan, he's as honest a fighter there is but there's levels to this game. I don't think he has a snowflakes chance in hell against the ginger mexican beef eating monster.
It's hard to know how Ryder's stumpy inside style will work against Canelo these days. Canelo was pretty hard to hit for a while, but maybe if he exchanges with Ryder stumpy to stumpy at close range Ryder could land a big one and turn or finish the fight, especially if Canelo is a bit slower or more complacent. I think if Ryder presses and goes for it, he might be able to do it. But it depends how he fights too, because so many have gone in passive in recent times (Golovkin, Kovalev, Smith, Saunders ...) and Canelo isn't pressured, just has his way. If Ryder comes to just survive or 'win on points', it'll probably be an easy fight for Canelo.
Upsets sure do happen, especially with the help of judges. There's gonna be a time where Canelo does underperform and meets the wrong guy at the wrong time.....just don't see that being Ryder, so I'm gonna be generous aand say it's unlikely.
If Canelo is standing after 12 he’s getting his arm raised. If his heart explodes from steroid OD, they will prop him up and hold his arm up like Weekend at Bernie’s. No way he loses this fight.
This. If Ryder keeps his chin tucked in, closes Canelo off and just keeps flailing away, there's a chance he pokes a hole through ginger's leaky gas tank and takes the late rounds big. His chances might be increased if Canelo takes this lightly and neglects his cardio. He's gonna walk through fire to do it though. I'd favour Canelo 70-30, tbh, but if RYder's going to do it it's the only way imho
Canelo is slipping. And even if hes not, his stamina is something Ryder can take advantage of. Ryder has a decent jab and he knows how to double it up. He is also a capable inside fighter and one who likes to throw punches in bunches. Ryder has to be the one to apply the pressure and he should aim for the body immediately. I expect Canelo to win a clear, but competitive decision. Canelos defense and distance management will force the pace and the cleaner punching from him will bank him the rounds.
I just hope Ryder pushes the fight, gives it his all and does not resign himself to a boxing match where Canelo just pieces him up to a decision win. Ryder is strong and has a good counter right hook. He would put up a good fight against every other smw right now. But Canelo is a different ball game, especially with Ryder’s short range style.
As was Smith. I'd be surprised, but also it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy if he wins. I just prey if it did happen he wouldn't get robbed again.
